There's little chance of breaking in to newspaper comics. You can't even wait for an artist to die, because it'll just be continued by someone else(or worse, put into reruns like Peanuts). There are many other factors, but basically I have a 1 in 100,000,000,010 chance of getting even a burger-flipper's wage in newspapers. With online-only, I actually have roughly a 1 in 100,000 chance of getting that wage.
Also, newspapers don't want a comic that involves the occasional teenage sex. I love the web.
