Solaris met Brillant when they were just teenagers.

After learning Celestia is betrothed to Brillant last night, that morning Solaris was sitting down depressed and heartbroken at the same time, until he was stumbled upon by Brillant, as Solaris thought he was gonna take Celestia's heart from him. However, even though he is betrothed to her, Brillant wasn't even in love with Celestia at all, but is in love with her older sister Estrella instead, but hasn't confessed his feelings to her yet. Solaris suggested Brillant to tell her how she feels as they went off to find her.
