Lass held her arm the entire way as they walked "She feels real, she thought."
"So does The First." Brian said "She can't be."
Kari just stared at Matthew as they walked "So... About that fight in the woods.."
"ye?" Lass replied, but then Matthew took control. he looked around confused, as the class room was now wall-less and outside.
"Umm How did that get started?" Kari still asked
"How'd what start?" Matthew looked to her
"The fight in the woods." Kari restated "With the orcs and the behemoth.."
"She was gonna ask us about that." Brian said "I could recall the events for you."
Matthew just turned to the cement sidewalk "I don't like to talk about it."
Kari looked at him, ears twitching and head slightly tilted "But you seemed so open before..."
"I mean umm... well.." Matthew was hesitant to answer, he wasn't even sure how he could explain his problems. He never had before.
"Well... Change of subject." Kari said "Did you pay to get into this university?"
Matthew looked a little more up to her. "Not really, it was a tuition." he said
"Yeah, I remember that." Brian said beneath him "I helped you write out the form for the scholarships."
"I signed up for as many as I could saying I was Special." Matthew said "I never learned that was code for monster."
"Really? That's something I learned where I grew up." Kari said "It's how you get around safe from regular anthros."
"Oh? really?" Matthew looked to her, and then he looked around the campus as they walked "So this is all looked at as a campus for special people?"
"That could be really handy, but really bad for handicapped people..." Brian said "We're a good example of that."
Matthew stopped walking at the sight of a grey tail. He looked around more, and then he saw it coming.
"Umm... could we maybe meet at my room later?" Matthew asked, starting to walk again. "
"What?" Kari asked, already looking at something elsewhere "Oh sure we could do that.."
The First was running at him.
"Great, See you later." Matthew said and sprinted.
He ran down sidewalks and took turn after turn, but it was still on him, as if it knew his every move. Even if Matthew leaped down stairs, or climbed a way, or even took turns around trees. there it was, still running. Matthew turned a corner around a building, and when he looked around it wasn't there. he didn't bother to look back, he kept running on to make sure, and then he hit an arm. Someone had stuck their arm out and knocked Matthew off his feet. His head and shoulders were sore as he lied on the ground, as he looked at the guy who did it, there was that dead-like fox staring him down. Panicked, he scrambled into a close ally, but it did no good.
"It's not real, Matthew." Brain said "It's in your head, like that one girl."
"Seriously?"Matthew asked as it closed in on him in the alley "It just knocked us to the ground!
"You just think it did!" Brian shouted "Tell it it's not real!"
Matthew got to his feet as he looked at the killer "You're not real."
The First drew closer still.
"You're not real!" Matthew and tried to throw a punch "Get out of my life!"
