While most Viera are either nervous or completely disinterested in regards to my presence, there are a few Viera who are comparatively warm in their reception. The Viera known as Alja, Rena, Nera, and Mjrn have been exceptionally kind and visited me on several occasions, although Mjrn always seems a bit apprehensive about said visits.

For the most part, their visits are short, coming by only for a brief exchange before leaving once more to return to whatever it is Viera occupy their time with (Something I intend to learn once I am able to move from this accursed bunk!).

They occasionally ask questions about the outside, mostly through indirect inquiries about myself. It is common knowledge that the Viera are forbidden from leaving the village lest they face exile, and I believe that their method of inquiry reflects this. Further, I would not want to cause trouble within the village by inadvertently tempting them, though I do doubt they would be so weak-willed. Regardless, my answers are reciprocated by their own and I have gained a light acquaintance with them.

It is through these inquiries I learned that Alja, who also serves as my primary method of receiving medicine and food, is the sister of none other than Rael!

Apparently, she had once been a Wood-warder herself, but had since changed her path to that of Salve-maker, and my care was a part of her appointed duties. She was vague on the reasons for this change of paths, but I noticed she favored one leg over the other when she walked and thought it wise not to push the subject further.

Regardless of her reasons, she has proven to be a most calm and courteous caretaker…and quite pleasing to the eye I admit!

Meet Alja!

The reserved Salve Maker in training, and sister to Rael.

Once a Wood Warder, an accident left her injured and unable to hunt as effectively. Now, she yearns to at least function as a Salve maker and fulfill some purpose.

Her tenacity is admirable, and has gotten her far in spite of her injuries.

Like many Viera, she is calm and reserved, not one to be boisterous and outgoing. She has no strong feelings towards outsiders either way, but will follow the will of the Wood and village in whatever direction they may give.
