The abuse came to a head, when one day, Black Flame came upon an out of control fire, caused by an unknown assailant. As he struggled to get the fire under control, some ponies came upon the scene, immediately suspecting Black Flame of being the arsonist, with one pony throwing a rock, breaking Black Flame's horn and disrupting his attempt to contain the fire. In the end, no investigation into the crime was made, with the town using Black Flame as a scape goat and cruelling banishing him from the town he once called home of autumn town.
