Decided to sell this guy and make another one for myself later since I don't use him
The name is temporary for the species, I'm not sure what I'll name them at this point, but to further explain why they are called this is because the extra skin on their backs that are attached is expandable.
They can wrap it around themselves like a shield of sorts to deflect any incoming damage as the material will harden into a thick hide to ricochet off any magical spells, and to rebound any physical as well.
It is not however foolproof as it leaves their legs exposed for the most part, it's just made to protect the important areas like the face.
These dragons can come either as feralistic or anthropomorphic, but feralistic is more common.
The majority of these dragons are evil, and feed off any magical source they can get their hands on, their favorite food being gems that hold magical properties, which is why most of them live towards volcanic or mountainous regions.
Each of them has a specific element to them if they've ingested a certain type of gem with that magical property, and can display elements of that property by their breath attacks, or by the surrounding auras/etc.
It has also been known that sometimes if they consume too many of that gem, they will succumb to their element and explode, causing a massive stone to be left in their place, a fusion of these gems that collected in a pouch in their throat for safe keeping, which is how they access their powers as well.
These gems are highly unstable, and require that of a talented or knowledgeable character of the arcane to either harness or separate them into smaller fragments as to not disrupt and cause a chaotic explosion of energy.
On this dragon in particular, his head has been mostly melted away in a battle, leaving just the bleached skull in its place, and wrappings around the remainder of the eyes to protect them from further damage. The battle rendered him blind, but it is through his consumption of arcane gems that he is able to see in various "aura" shapes and continue to live out his days. He is also able to camouflage himself completely at night, his scales reflecting in the sky like that of stars.
