The state in which I find myself is nothing short of incredible. It all began with a simple personal expedition. I am a scholar by trade you see, or at least something resembling one, so I took it upon myself to chart some of the more mysterious aspects of the infamous Golmore Jungle. Whilst I was observing the canopy from my humble airskiff, I was so absorbed in thought I did not hear the faint hum of the imperial cruiser swiftly approaching from behind! So fast were they upon me, that I did not have nary a second to react before my skiff was overturned and I was cast to the mercy of the treetops.
But indeed, the gods smiled upon me! For my landing spot was not in the midst of the jungle as I had feared, but rather squarely within the legendary Eruyt Village, home of the Viera!
I must admit, that when I awoke from the fall, I was sure that I had been ushered to the afterlife. You see, I have always had a somewhat particular fascination with the Viera. Their svelte, elegant figures and brilliant white hair is quick to draw the eye, and their curious mannerisms adept at holding your attention! So dazed was I by the fall that I mistook them for some form of angel!
By in truth, the fall was not wholly fortuitous. The branches which had done so well at keeping me from deaths clutches had also proven effective at pulverizing my mortal frame. I was completely at the mercy of the villagers who stood around me, weapons drawn and ready to finish the task the empire had inadvertently started.
I was quickly rushed into a holding room, and my severe wounds were addressed in silence by a pair of salve makers. It was there I spent a great many hours whilst the elders within the village discussed what my fate would be. Fortunately, while the Viera are a furtive people, they are not cruel. They deemed that casting me to the Wood would be a most miserable fate, and so I was permitted to remain within the village until my body had recovered to a point that I could embark on my own.
However, the stay was not without limitations. I was to respect their law, and my lodgings would be a humble unoccupied housing near the outskirts of the village. I was to keep my distance from those preoccupied with their duties, and not pursue conversation with those in the village who did not wish for my company. Food was to be delivered to me, and I was not allowed to procure it on my own, as they feared I would bring undue stress to the flora and fauna. I was more than happy to oblige these mandates, and saw it as a fantastic opportunity to examine the Viera culture firsthand!
Upon my request, I was given several sheaves of parchment and a bundle of charcoal sticks with which to record my observations. Elder Jote was unconcerned about my intentions, so long as I did not record detailed specifics such as the location of the village or the precise methods of their crafts. Not only would this serve as a fantastic way to pass the time whilst I healed, but it could be a veritable font of information regarding the Viera that others in my field have pined for with such fervor!
Truly, this stay shall prove to be a most interesting one!
