I think it's a nice program for getting started to digital art if you're easily overwhelmed with all those controls programs like Photoshop or Corel Painter provide you with. For the professional user it's too limited, though. I like it for sketching practice a lot since it has this very nifty look and vanishing tool boxes when you draw over them and it is the only program allowing to put reference pictures attached with pins all over your working space. The rotation tool is fine, too, the only other program that is that easy to handle, but not as limited in controls is Paint Tool SAI.
A good tablet does not have to be more than 50 bucks Oo - I'm not talking about an exceptional good one - of course I'd love to have a Cintiq - who would not? But my old PenPartner did a good job. Though now it's getting a bit too old. I'll need a new one soon, hope to get a grab on a Bamboo.
So good luck with your fursuit!

It's a great way to do so, especially with a new program. Little exercises like this gain you valuable experience with the program, and are a good way to test out new personal styles and quirks. Don't worry about how they turn out, keep them in your mind as experimental, tests of the new program and new things. You might be surprised what you can get out of doodles! Aside from that, it's fun to goof around with a program! :D
