Am visiting
esteban in TX and a couple of days ago we went to Denton, Tx and stopped in at the Cartwright's Ranchhouse eatery and ordered the chicken fried steak meal. I was warned "You in Texas son! All things are big here and that includes meals!"
Steve ordered the half meal while I ordered the whole meal. When it arrived, well see for yourselves.
Put a couple of leather straps on that steak and one could use it as a buckler shield to distract an opponent. Meal included fries, roll, and mashed potatoes with gravy (all visible in the first picture). This 65 year old Squirrel DEVOURED it all! Aaaaaaa, is nice to see that not all of the glory days of my youth are passed.
My thanks to
esteban for instructing me on putting the three photos together so I could get them into one posting instead of three.

there is place in Lewisville area that's runned by lady that's like ex navy or something forgot the name of place but the bisquits and rolls are like size of half a small loaf of bread almost and stuff one roll takes up full small plate and lets say you wont leave hungry at the table and later that night due to left overs XD
Have to remember that the steak is pounded flat and tenderized to get a very flat piece of meat so it fries up crisp.
It is the Texas version of Wienerschnitzel.

That last picture reminded me of this scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOP_bJWukkA did you band your silver ware up and down too when waiting for your food?
Someone else mentioned this but figured I'd toss my $.02 in as a native Californian. The only green thing in sight on that table is the greenback. Is that as close to veggies as a Texan gets? Just sayin'. (Sadly, only the broccoli and mashed 'taters were edible when I received my local chicken fried steak... I's still jealous!) Enjoy your travels! Stay safe and at least healthy enough!
