Rachel's Introductory Dance -- 10th anniversary revisit
August, 2007. Still very new to the fandom I had but one character. A green-haired fox. Looking for a character to draw with him, I decided to draw up a generic fox character to go with him as a possible random love interest. Little thought was put into future plans with her. Took a while before I even had a name for her. Nearly tried Chyanne/Cheyenne, as in Wyoming's capitol. And in some way that I can no longer remember, I quoted a Pat Green song that had come out only a couple short years prior.
Over time, I grew attached to the shy little vixen who, not long after, came to be known as Rachel. As I grew as a person through the succeeding years, though good and bad times, and as she and I became less shy, she's become my longest lasting character so far and by far. With Vaid as my current sona and Seafox long since faded, Rachel has continued on to be who she is today. Just with more curves. A lot more curves in places. >//>
So, as I look back at her history and I reflect on where both she and I have come from and gone over the past 10 years, I felt it fitting to take that very first uploaded image of her and redo it in my more current style. I thought about coloring it, but that honestly would have felt a bit much since the original wasn't colored when it was first posted. And I dub her birthday to be the 8th. Why? Turn the number 8 sideways for the answer, or perhaps two answers, depending on perspectives.
She may be more open these days and sometimes viewed as that fandom fox stereotype, but she's my sweetheart of a vixen who still loves dancing and putting up with me and my artistic antics because she finds me cute and silly for it. >w<
She was someone's baby doll. A beauty queen to someone long ago, from the midnight show.
And if you close your eyes, you hear the music playing.
You can see her dancing, underneath the spotlight.
When she sleeps, she dreams she's back in Hollywood.
Back when all the world was young, she was someone's baby doll.
Little did I know from the mild inspiration and quoting of that song that not only would I grow so fond of her, but that Rachel would still be around as a character all these years later. Here's to ya, baby doll, and many more years of dancing and silly artistic antics. Happy birthday, Rachel. ^^
(Side note since it was asked. That box thing in the upper image is supposed to be a piano as well. Just the back of an upright, like often seen in schools. >w>; )
