Tribute to my boyfriend who passed away a few days ago.
Sam and I both had anxiety issues so we never went out that much in public. We would usually just get some food essentials and come back to his place and enjoy each other's company. He introduced me to Doctor Who, we would watch Star Trek: Next Generation, make fun of 'Chopped' as we watched it, cuddle in fear watching 'Twin Peaks' or 'Altered States', watch an intellectual movie like Blade Runner or Cloud Atlas and discuss it afterwards, completely silly movies like 'the Birdcage' and 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. or stay on YouTube and show assorted clips to each other for hours.
We would occasionally go out as well, on what we called our 'adventures'. St Pete, Tampa, mall, downtown Dunedin, ComicCon, and more.
I always felt protected in this bubble of space and time with Sam, this Sanctuary. In those moments of time and space, I didn't worry about my job issues, car problems, health scare, and he wouldn't worry about demons that were haunting him. Whenever I left his place, I felt like I was returning back to the old world of problems and issues. But those problems and worries went away the next time I would see him.
We had each other and that was enough. I love you, Sam. To quote a movie that we both cherished:
"I believe Death is only a door. When it closes, another opens. If I care to imagine heaven, I would imagine a door opening. And behind it, I would find him there, waiting for me"
