Living off the grid in the woods is hard, but worth it. A lot of work spent on firewood and hauling water. It's worth it. I am lucky.

Secondly, Do you run any solar or other type of energy collection/recycling?

I'm in the process of building a wood heat and solar house with 40oz, actually. Apocalypse farm. Pretty exiting, really.

That is just freekin awesome. Perhaps is the house/roofline south facing? I'm not seeing too much sky behind/over your house. Have any place to setup a network of black PVC piping? Some of that with a manual pump at one end just rocks for solar water heating. My uncle's cabin has his entire back roof covered in black PVC piping and the front in traditional photovoltaic/solar panels which power the water pumps to circulate the water through the pipes and keeps everything warm inside the house as the pipes run through it. The other result is nice fresh hot water anytime you need it. I'm not sure of his source water, but I think he uses rain barrels (not sure) Its his off-grid escape home.

IT's going to be on a different part of the land. Thirty acres to work with- so a new spot with forest loam garden spots and all that jazzz. We're doing wood heat. I am pro- global warming and apocalypse, so any carbon emission I can achieve is a plus.
