My second dragon and first female for my and  TheLovelyEchos ' headworld ;3;

Tatsu is a giant of a dragon, though she's not much older than Sumi, Quan, or Tama. It might just be because of her size, but she's a very protective dragoness, and attentive toward people she sets herself to look after. In public, she's reserved and quiet, and some might call her cold or intimidating, but when it's just her with her family, she laughs loud and hugs hard, with as much love as she can give.
She's also fond of the occasional prank =P Nothing dangerous or messy. Doing harm isn't much in her nature. Gentle giant <3

She was one of the few dragons who came from a bad parent. Though she may be an adult now, she still has many of the scars recieved as a youngling from a mother who had no use for a runtling child. Young Tatsu left her mother as soon as she was able, and luckily found another dragon who could teach her as a parent should. She never really forgot her birth mother abandoning her because of her supposed weakness, so she made sure that, as an adult, no such complaint could be made of her.
Now Tatsu, using her birth mother as an example of what not to be, protects her partner Tama and near any orphaned or abandoned younglings she comes across. She especially has a fondness for the smaller younglings. It's hard for her not to when they remind her so much of her younger self.

Tatsu is a hybrid of a land and river dragon, so her feet are webbed, but she also has a runner's body. Her tail in unsusually long, which makes land movement a little difficult at times, and it's not much more useful in the water, since it lacks fins. However, she's found that it can be used as an excellent whip, made more dangerous by the venomous spines at the end.
When not in use, the spines on her elbows, back, and tail fold away and are covered by the sheaths of skin that web then, so they're harmless.
The long paddles coming from her shoulders are used to detect water currents, and they have little enough feeling in them that they also make excellent toys for young, playful dragons.
And the transparent crest on her neck helps her to show her mood! As I have it drawn here, she's feeling relaxed(though her spines say otherwise). When it's fully raised, it means she's startled, angry, or maybe even feeling a little frisky :P When it's tight to her neck, she's feeling upset about something, or perhaps is sick. It's not always clear either. It can be flushed with blood to turn it dark red, which she does to better draw in warmth from the sun, or cool herself off when in the shade.

This is the first rendered thing I've done in months, and I'm super proud of how she came out ;3; The sketch itself took me a few hours, but rendering it out after took me six hours of nonstop. I even forgot to eat anything until after she was done XD
Worth it though! She's my birthday gift to myself.
