You've seen a lot of my aircraft concepts modeled after design trends of the 1990s, 1980s, 1970s, 1960s, and 1950s --- now I've completed another one based on 1950s fighter design trends!
The F3A1 Vampire is a mid-1950s-styled Interceptor, with the narrow wingspan and super-long, stilletto-like fuselage typical of Mach 2 fighters from that era. The result is super-quick accelleration and a high top speed, but rather unremarkable maneuverability (the length/wingspan ratio is too high). Also note the surprisingly high fuel fraction --- once you hit a very high speed in the Vampire, you can throttle back and cruise along.
The narrow wingspan of the Vampire doesn't bode well for close-in, turning dogfights (or any slow flying for that matter), so the internal gun may be a bit overambitious.
I'm especially proud of it's wicked side profile, and the detail in the airbrakes. XD
The specs for this aircraft are as follows;
