A character I created for the game Firefall, Oilspill was supposed to be like a secondary handler/contact for the player. There wasn't much developed on him when I made him as far as his backstory and such, so I gave him a prison tattoo on his head and toughed him up a little.
When making a lot of these characters, I would sketch their bodies/outfits fairly loose as seen here, then tighten them up when finalizing to colour once approval were made. This made them all fairly quick to do and obviously allowed for a lot of early changes (which there were usually a lot of).
In the case of this guy here, he was originally going to only appear in portrait form transmitting to the player. Later on he was to appear in-world so his body was used but at that point for expediency's sake I gave colours and the sketch of the body was used instead of a finalized concept when moving to 3d.
Thanks for taking a look!
