Okay, he's finally finished, so here's all the details about Frank. :)
Basically, he's a doll. His head and hands I made out of Sculpey. His eyes are these marbles that have a sort of gun metal sheen and where baked within the head.
The arms and legs I salvaged from a stuff-it-yourself fabric doll kit. The body in the kit was sooooo not right, so the torso I had to figure out. Connected all the parts and then had what looked like Frankenubis for a few months, due to all the stitching. (This is why he's named Frank.)
Today I set to finishing him. The clothing is sewn onto him in parts since I can't seem to sew clothing articles by themselves. ;p I used white and black satins (thick kind and slightly textured). For the accents and arm bands I just used various sizes of ribbon.
The mohawk is just that loose hair you can buy in beauty supply stores, meant for making extensions I suppose, or wigs and whatnot. Working with loose hair is a pain in the butt. I had to sew little clumps at a time to a strip of ribbon, then sew the hair upright from the ribbon, so it would go UP rather than sticking out to the side. After reinforcing that a few times with yet more stitches, I glued the ribbon to his head and waited impatiently. After it was dry, he got a hair cut. XD
Last, the tail. x_x Made from the same loose hair as his mohawk. Instead of clumping and sewing to a ribbon, I did it with wire and thread. Clump, bend, twist-twist-twist, wrap wrap wrap, repeat until it was long enough with a little bit of wire left at the top, enough to bend and form into an oval. Then, a bit of ribbon was sewn around the wire (keeping it flat), then sewn to his backside up under a fold of clothing. After it was attached, his tail got a hair cut, since it needed to be shaped right.
And now that he has his hair cuts and springy swishy tail applied he's done! :D So if you're going to AC, come by and see him. Oh! As for size, he's probably between 10/11 inches tall. ^_^ I think he's Barbie size, or close to it.

Beautiful work...but I have to admit that I think he's creepy >.>
Dolls scare me x.x lol, but still, excellent job :P Even if I only look at it for a second before I close the window! I know I wont be at AC this year, but we're planning another artist alley dance party at the next FWA, you in?

*laughs* Thanks! Yeah, I keep the interesting looking bottles and spice tins on the counter, but keep the fugly ones in the cabinet. XD And when you have Pappy's hot sauces, its hard NOT to want to display them. http://www.hotsauceworld.com/pamomabasa.html
This is awesome! If you ever get the idea to do commissions of these please let us know! I understand the loose hair thing. I made a sculpture of my dog after she got a haircut and used the loose fur to make her look as realistic as possible. And it took so very long to get it to look right.
