Just a pic of of me (on left) and two friends on a ride/camping trip we made last September to Roslyn, Washington. Fans of the TV series 'Northern Exposure' will recognize the Roslyn Cafe mural from the opening credits and where 'Mort' the yearling bull moose is seen window shopping for a new set of antlers. Just in the picture is a partial view of 'Dr. Joel Fleischman's clinic'. The whole town's main street was used as the out doors set and many of the 'set dressings' are still in place including the complete 'KBHR (or K-BEAR) raido station' set that featured 'Chris in the morning'. This is an absolutely gorgeous area to visit and the ride to and from 'Cicely' seemed made for motorcycling. We had lunch and beer at the Roslyn Cafe and dinner and even more beer at The Brick. If you've never seen the show I strongly encourage you to do so (on CBS from 1990 to 1995, 110 episodes). The ride was pretty hard on my bad back but by taking lots of breaks (at every bar along the way) I was able to persevere. Censored per witness protection program ;)

I love to visit Roslyn whenever I head across the pass. I met the cast on several occasions; great people. I live just across Lake Washington from Seattle, so it's not a hard trip to make. Where are ya from originally? Sayin' the trip was "pretty hard on my bad back" must mean you're at least several states out, ne?
Wow, I'm envious =) The only celebrity I've ever met was 'Weird Al' and that was before he became famious because we were in the same dorm at college. He recorded many of his earliest spoofs (like "My Bologna" and "Another One Rides The Bus") on his accordion using our floor's bathroom because he liked the acoustics XP To meet the Northern Exposure cast must have been a real thrill. I wish I'd had a chance to do that. Honestly, while the show was on the air, I really thought they were shooting in Alaska. I didn't find out it was shot here in Washington until I moved up here (D'oh!)
I live on the other side of the sound from Seattle and have only lived here for a bit under 5 years. I'm a little past 2 years since spinal surgery that got be back up and walking after an injury near the end of 2004. But I'll need another surgery before I'll be able to sit at my drawing table and crank out any 'deerotica' again. Any ride I take that lasts longer than an hour is pretty hard on my back these days =/

I have to admit, I've seen very little of "Norther Exposure"... I recall it being a fairly charming sort of show. You've gotta love moose.
There's always a certain thrill to being somewhere that's been made famous via its depiction in a movie or tv show. Personally I'd love to visit the little place where "Twin Peaks" was filmed (Snoqualmie, Wash.) and find myself some coffee and cherry pie. Or beer. Beer is always good. :3

I was in Roslyn in the last year Conifur happened. Had to, being a fan of Northern Exposure as well. was kinda saddened more of the places shut down and closed. Though lunch at The Brick was well worth it.
Took many photos of the various locations there and KBHR and Chris-In-The-Morning's station point. Even Dr Fleischmans office was still showing the sign, but was reduced to a reality office. And Ruth Ann's store was a clothing shop.
