My 'big project' for 2017 opens on some unnamed South Seas island resort, where the most unlikely guest has found himself. Via the intense cranking of the Contrivance Machine, Roland here has found himself the winner of a "trip to paradise".

Solo.

It shouldn't be too hard to have a great time in a place like this, right? Everyone dreams of vacationing in a tropical resort, right? Well, not Roland...being being a die-hard "city boy" he hasn't the slightest clue how to fit in here. Even less so than a typical Western tourist.

Technical:
For this project I took a detour in applications. While I had been up to this point practicing heavily with Krita, it's text-handling tools still leave a lot to be desired, so I brought up Clip Studio Paint EX, since it's designed for comics, and thus has some competence at handling text (except for rotating and distorting text, but I found a workaround for that.

Pencil on bristol, digitally colored and lettered in Clip Studio Paint EX x layers, 29MB in CSP's .clip format.
