If ya payed attention, most of the red-shirts who were -not- killed in the old series had a gold band arounf the ends of their sleeves. As for the "gold" curse from next gen, didn't pay much attention did ya? -all- colors died in that one.

Well saw a documentary once there was a red shirt that survived multiple episodes and didn't Scotty wear a red shirt.. Otherwise red shirted security person needed targets painted on them.

The redshirt curse seems to apply mainly to the security detail. I wonder why engineering/coms were red-shirted/skirted too? shouldnt' those those have gotten blue shirts or a different color altogether?

Red was for Operations and Technical staff, while Blue was for Sciences and Medical. In short, if you actually did something practical aboard a Starship like fixing stuff or operating machines, you were a red-shirt and if you worked on complex, brain hurting stuff, you were a blueshirt

So what color does the Janitor/cleaning staff wear?

And yes,even bathrooms and toilets on the Enterprise needed cleaning.
