• Able to fly at speeds breaking the sound barrier (clocked in training at speeds of Mach 3.7- but may not be her fastest speed)
• Hyper-Sonic Sonar-constantly active and receiving sensory input so quickly that it gives Siren the ability to “see” clearly and accurately up to a 10 mile radius around her (she does not need to be facing the direction to so pick it up on sonar).
• Ability to focus sonic energy in the palms of her hands and redirect them as blast waves as thin or wide a wave as she desires. Easily able to shatter glass.
• Hyper –Sonic Screech- Siren’s most powerful attack, she releases a loud continual burst of sonic energy from her mouth that she can sustain for minutes on end far more powerful than sonic blasts she can project from her hands. This attack can be amplified by combining sonic blasts from her hands as well.
• Enhanced Strength 4x that the average furson (still nowhere near comparison in scale compared to Warfare or Super Moo)
• Enhanced Healing ability for minor and severe injuries. Critical/ broken bones and possibly fatal take longer to heal but still approximately 1/3 the time as normally needed to recover.
Strengths:
• Strong willed and determined spirit keeps Siren focused and always sees things through.
• Due to her augmented speed, strength and sonic attacks, Siren is a force to be reckoned with both in close quarters and ranged combat.
• Because of her spending most of her life in the dark she feels right at home in it. Her sonar and this comfort gives her a tactical advantage in nocturnal situations.
• Hypersonic Sonar is far more accurate than most making her an expert marksman with firearms often times throwing others off guard.
Weaknesses:
• Blind by medical standards and definition.
• Siren is susceptible to normal furman frailties.
• Due to experimentation, Siren has become extremely susceptible to Magic based attacks.
• Claustrophobic- will lash out acting like a scared cornered feral.
• Advanced Sonar Jamming technology can disrupt Sirens Hyper-Sonic Sonar. Results in loss of “sight” and sound this causes a claustrophobic sensation within Siren.
• Hyper-Sonic Sonar though very accurate and can pick up fine details of things, does not allow for Siren to identify things on flat surfaces. (I.E. Siren can “see the physical piece of paper or the monitor screen, but is unable to tell you what is on them)
• Hyper-sonic Sonar is always receiving sensory input. Although Siren has learned to block it out as white noise, certain frequencies can over stimulate and overwhelm her system.
• Due to an over active metabolism, Siren has a constant need to feed on plasma (blood) She can still eat and drink regular food but is no longer able to receive the nutrients and energy from it of a normal Furson. She needs blood as well to survive. (This does not make her a carrier of Vampirism)
Bio:
Daughter of High School sweethearts Jeff (a mid-level data analyst, for Horizon, the area’s telecommunications provider) and Amanda (Kignman Elementary art teacher) Urzica, Katherine Urzica was born a rather sickly kit. Due to complications being born a pre-me, her heart, lungs, eyes and immune system were never given the proper time to develop fully. In a case like this, doctors would give the poor girl an estimate of maybe three to five years at best if she survived infancy at all.
Despite the odds, and the meager savings the Urzica’s had, Katherine spent most of her infancy and toddler years moving from hospital to hospital receiving treatments and surgeries to help correct these issues to one day hopefully live a normal happy life. It placed a massive stress on the Urzica family however, financial spiritually and emotionally as funds dwindled quickly and practical medical practice options lessened just as fast. The Urzica’s started looking to other means of saving their poor daughter.
Eventually when all hoped seemed lost as the Urzica’s maxed out all the credit cards and spent the last of the funds of a second mortgage on a their home, it started to seem bleak for the now three year old kit when fate seemed to smile on the family.
One night as Jeff and Amanda were looking over finances again, trying to refigure their budget or searching for possible unspent credit they could scrounge, a loud knock came from the front door. The two Bats looked at one another curiously before Jeff finally went to check. A well-dressed professional looking female Orca with a warm smile stood before them. She flashed a company id for a R and D firm for medical research and had come across Katherine’s case file for potential candidate for some revolutionary cutting edge procedures. The Orca also discussed assisting the Urzica’s with their financial troubles caused by their situation as well.
The couple should have taken the time to consider this offer. It had to be too good to be true. It was, too good to be true. But when the life of ones kit is at stake they were willing to go through hell and back to save her. Too bad they did not know that was exactly what would happen to them.
They didn’t hesitate as they agreed to the Orca’s terms as she left them with her contact card and a simple set of instructions where to bring Katherine.
It seemed legitimate at first. A large public hospital, regular visitation hours for the children, consultations with the medical staff, perhaps their second thoughts and doubts were just jaded by the constant uphill struggle the family had to endure.
Amanda practically moved into the private hospital room with her daughter while Jeff came and spent visiting hours and every free chance he could be present. The Doctors and staff would come in several times a day each day to talk with Katherine keeping her in good spirits despite the pain of the strangely glowing IV drips that the little bat was hooked up to.
At a young age Katherine understood her situation, and this was to help her get better. She didn’t want to upset her mommy and daddy by crying and whimpering in pain. She did that in the few seldom moments she had time by herself.
It wasn’t until after the first surgery four years later that Katherine underwent when things started to become stressed and strange between the facility and the Urzicas. Katherine almost immediately improved greatly from her prior condition. She felt strong enough to spread her wings for the first time. She seemed more alert and full of energy as well. However, the poor kit started to complain about terrible migraines and her vision was degrading. As bad as her eyes were, only able to see shapes, shadows, and some colors in good light, she could no longer make anything out. Katherine’s pupils also slowly shrinking and the colors of her eyes were changing as well from their bright yellow, to deep blue Sclera, and purple iris as the pupil would eventually disappear
The Medical staff had warned Jeff and Amanda that these treatments were highly experimental and there could be some unintended side-effects. What the Urzica’s failed to realize was the contract stated that if any complications formed as result of the procedures, the organization sponsoring Katherine would have the right to move her to a “more accommodating facility”.
Katherine was abruptly moved in the middle of the night to what seemed like a rundown abandoned iron mill in the middle of nowhere in Montana. As the kit awoke the next morning the doctors explained she needed to be moved because this new facility could help her better. They promised her parents would visit soon but they never came.
The procedures and treatments continued relentlessly over the next four years. Katherine’s body would make a vast improvement. Her heart, lungs and immune system would be completely healed. In fact, her entire metabolic rate, healing, strength and speed would increase immensely. Despite the advancements and improvements she would make though, several draw backs would occur as well. The young bat completely lost her vision and had a constant need to feed on plasma. Despite being able to eat other foods, her body would act as If it were starving without constant replenishment of blood.
As Katherine grew stronger she would eventually make it out of her room discovering that there were other children at this facility. Children of various ages who seemed to have similar stories to that of her own all lived within the confines of this research facility. It was around this same time that something unexpected happened. While being picked on by several older children, Katherine, fed up with the constant abuse by them, screeched releasing a loud harsh sonic burst shattering glass of the observation rooms above the playground the children were playing in. During that same fight the young vampire bat continued to flail in all directions launching wave after wavevof sonic energy indiscriminately striking anyone unfortunate enough to be in her path.
The researchers watching above nodded and smirked at one another pleased with what this young child was able to accomplish. Katherine was once again moved to another facility to “finish her treatment.”
Katherine woke up several hours later after her last surgery as her ears filled with all sorts of sounds. She held her head as images began to become clear in her mind more so than she had ever “seen” before. It initially started as just rainbow pulsing colors. They slowly began to form wire framing in the void of darkness she was accustomed to seeing. Katherine quickly hopped out of bed without the need of her walking stick and began wandering the halls slowly realizing this was not the same facility she had been in before. As she ran into her doctor’s they explained to her that this new facility would help her hone her new way of seeing as well as control her other new abilities as well.
It ran more like a military school than a medical facility. The daily routine for the next 6 years was the same regiment day in and day out. The morning routine usually consisted of being up at 5 AM for drills until chow. At 6 A.M. “treatment” (consisting of some sort of experimental and often painful IV drip and possibly surgery), if, like Katherine, you were deemed to need it, followed by morning academics. After A brief lunch break was physical education (either consisting of full contact fighting or some sort of obstacle course lovingly called “pain alley” until evening treatments before dinner. After dinner was considered free time. In actuality it was the guards and instructors placing the children in various situations to see how they react and properly reeducate their behavior to better control them like puppets. This would continue until lights out at 9 PM. It was a vicious cycle that repeated itself day in and day out. Katherine would continue to exceed every expectation of the instructors and researchers alike. However her spirit became more and more determined to be free and return home to her family.
This began to trouble the instructors and researchers alike. They never expected Katherine to out-perform every other subject and even their own expectations. Something needed to be done to break the Vampire Bat’s will. That something needed to be quick, and decisive to break any hope the young kit would have for escape. The solution seemed fairly simple. One evening during the free time hours the televisions appeared to malfunction as breaking news was not filtered out and played through the common area.
BREAKING NEWS! Jeff and Amanda Urzica were killed in a freak elevator accident today when the systems cable snapped and emergency brakes failed to activate. The elevator plummeted 20 floors in a 32 floor Carson Building in StoneHaven City. The system had been reported to been having some issues and was scheduled for a maintenance team to inspect the system in two days.
The systems froze slightly as the report ended and started working normal again but the commons were dead quiet. All eyes from researchers to instructors to fellow trainees all looked to Katherine as she sat motionless for several moments. As the news started to sink in on the poor, kit her hands began to tremor as she turned her rage towards observation stations and the security team that attempted to calm her. Their plan had backfired as it took half the facility security in full riot gear to finally restrain and gain control over Katherine. That evening the medical ward was not filled with the normal trainees from the instructors instigations, but the staff and security from the wrath of their prize subject.
Instead of breaking the young vampire bats spirt, it hardened her conviction. She became more disobedient, more violent and over the next year made 40 unsuccessful escape attempts from the facility. The guards started to see it as a sadistic game that her reward for failure always ended with a brutal beating, more severe experiments and time spent in a small solitary confinement sensory deprivation cell called, “the pit”. It was barely even big enough for Katherine to spread her wings or do much else other than lay curled in the fetal position left with her own thoughts and complete loss of any senses.
The time in pit began to have some rather adverse effects on Katherine, leading eventually to her becoming claustrophobic. Something that was not expected occurred however. Katherine would become more feral the longer she was left in this state of fear. She would come out more and more primal. Although she was easier to control in this state, she became more savage and unable to comprehend and follow more complicated instructions. Thus the research took a dark more sinister turn keeping her locked away in the pit for months on end. The only time they would start to allow Katherine out, would be to test other subjects to see how they were progressing. Often times though the match would end up with Katherine feeding on a fresh kill and dragged back away to the pits until the next test subject was ready.
Katherine lost all track of time or being over the next two years. She was barely much more than a mindless beast. Rage, kill eat, were all that she really knew anymore. Until the day the Peacekeepers came. Katherine was woken in her coffin like cell by the sounds of fighting outside amongst the guards and unknown forces. The Vampire bat didn’t care, who they were her only instincts to survive were wat pushed her as the cell door was opened. She leaped hurriedly as she ripped the throat out of the fur in riot gear clawing and screeching her hyper sonic blasts at anything that moved, facility personal and invader alike. She was eventually stopped when a Wolf/Tiger half-breed wearing a back bodysuit with a green vest and a blue trench coat blocked her path. Despite her superior speed and strength advantages his discipline and skill out maneuvered and overpowered Katherine as he hit her with a barrage of kinetic energy blasts knocking her out cold.
Katherine would finally wake to a very different setting she was accustomed to. A nice soft bed, the cool temperature controlled by an air conditioner, her fur soft and smooth, a cleanliness she had not felt in what seemed forever. She actually was able to sit up and stretch her wings not noticing at first the fur in the corner reading a book on mythology. It was the same one that had knocked her out before. She leaped from her bed quickly to a corner timidly screeching at him. The Wolf/Tiger did not move or pay her any attention as she would tilt her head slightly looking in his direction with blind eyes. He didn’t seem malicious or dangerous, but she knew better they always would hurt her eventually. She scowled and screeched several times towards him though he would never move.
Eventually her stomach gurgled loudly as she grabbed and held it tightly. It was at that point that the half-breed would close his book moving to the foot of the bed placing several vials of blood on the bed before returning to his seat and his book once more. Katherine knew what it was immediately as she sprang for the vials. She tore the plastic stoppers off desperately as she sucked the crimson contents relishing each drop. A slight pleased smile came across her muzzle as she let out a blissful chirp. The Half-breed held up another vial getting the bats attention.
“My name is Tyrreel, people around here call me Havoc. What is your name?” he moved the vial of blood slightly. The bat, seeming fixated on the vial as Havoc began to realize her eyes were not seeing anything while her head followed the vial. She chirped slightly as she cautiously moved towards him when he stopped swaying the vial extending it out to her.
She slowly extended her hand out cautiously at first, but pulled it back as she tilted her head to look up at Havoc. She quirked her head as he smiled at her. It had been so long since her radar had registered a smile that it made her pause with confusion. Katherine snatched the vial from Havoc’s hand as she tore it open feeding once more. Havoc watched as she swallowed every last drop graciously.
“Ka….ther… rine…” The bat said softly staring at the vile then back at Havoc. A look of confusion on her face as though she were starting to remember her former self from another life.
His smile grew larger with a nod as she attempted to speak to him.
“Katherine…. That’s a step in the right direction.” Havoc said as he offered her another vial.
Over the next year Havoc and Warfare worked with Katherine. Slowly Katherine learned to trust the two as they taught her how to control her abilities and her hunger. Tyrreel would spend most of his free time helping Katherine acclimate and do anything he could to make the Vampire bat comfortable and content. He would sponsor Katherine in the new Peacekeepers initiative, making her the first new field agent to join the newly formed agency. Havoc would assign her the codename Siren, after the Beautiful and deadly creatures that would use their voices to attract and kill wayward sailors. It was a favorite story from, The Odyssey, that Siren would constantly ask Havoc to read to her over and over again during her rehabilitation.
What started as a student - mentor relationship between Havoc and Siren, would lead to co-workers, close friends, and eventually much more. She would become his second in command of the field agents of the Peacekeepers as well as his wife almost 3 years to the day of when he found her in the pit. Over the next 10 years Siren would act as an active Peacekeeper field agent as well as push for the initiative to open an academy for the increased number of meta’s that were becoming apparent. She would take the role of lead instructor at the academy as well as her position as Havoc’s second in command.
Personality:
An energetic always cheerful joy to be around, Siren is the “Mother Bear” of the Peacekeepers. Whether it is making sure that polarity finishes her homework, giving Warfare advice about women, or being her husband Havoc’s pillar of support and moral compass, Siren always puts the needs of those she cares about over her own. However, despite her gentle nature, like any “Mother Bear,” she can be very serious and a savage unrelenting force to be reckoned with to protect them in combat or out.
Siren is also a bit of a gossip hub. “Telegram, telephone, tele-Siren!” is a bit of a running joke about her. Since her hyper-Sonic hearing is always on, she is always listening. Although she has learned to control and block out a lot of what she hears treating it as white noise, she still likes to hold on to juicy tidbits of information. Although she never uses it to intentionally harm others, her good intention with this information has been none to back fire.
PET PEEVE: Many tend to think because Siren is a vampire bat she is a full blown Hollywood depiction of a vampire. This is a sure fire way to get under her fur as vampire bats are normal furs like any others. She is actually a lover of garlic often quoted as saying "no such thing as too much garlic!" as well as being very fond of looking at crucifixes. As far as a steak through the heart, or decapitation, well come on seriously, WHO WOULD THAT NOT NORMALLY KILL!?
Though they have evolved to drinking blood as a social drink similar to having a glass of wine, they do not need it to sustain themselves any longer. Siren however has slightly de-evolved back to needing it to sustain herself due to the experiments done on her during her younger years. Plain and simple, it’s just best not to approach the subject with her.
