As stated before, succubats seek hosts with the same gender, this has resulted, on multiple occasions, with hosts realizing they had gender dysphoria until that point without knowing.
This also ties into the children of succubats and their appearance. Only succubats who changed their sexual characteristics during the change, will pass on their succubat host appearance. For example: two cis hosts, will have kids who look like they did before becoming hosts. trans hosts will pass on the purple coloration, hooves and fiercer appearance.

There are male succubats. I've drawn the effects of one here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24171132/ (character not necessarily male)
That's rad!
Also tbh I'd probably legit volunteer for a succubat if that was an option available, at least provided I had a good sense of the hive's disposition and it wasn't too aggressive for me to conscientiously support.
(I'm like, deep into transhumanism and posthumanism and I'd be pretty happy becoming a ravenous parasitic waspmonster or whatever if I was previously assured that I would be happier, retain self-awareness and a modicum of my "current" personality, and wouldn't harm my friends or family.)

all hosts have children as if they weren't hosts, with the exception given in the description. it can happen, especially with casual sex. A long term relationship is more likely to make having a succubat an important matter
Most hives wait on making children into hosts. The impulse to help the hive and queen can cause conflict with a child who has poor impulse control, and needs to spend time studying and learning actually useful skills first.

One thing I keep wondering about these is if the demon symbiotes themselves are still separate minds in control of their added eye (on the end of the tail in this case), or are the fully merged with the mind of the host granting said host an additional eye as part of the process?
In the case of this picture it almost looks like the former, with the merged succubat looking over the results to its host separately from the host looking at themselves. The tail-eye focused on the head while the head-eyes are looking toward the arm.

Hives are probably more accepting of people who rejected their parasite and came back to them. Tho they'd probably want to get the person a new parasite, Especially before like, trusting that person with anything more than a home and a simple job.
Hostless parasites are only as smart as animals. They just want someone vulnerable who they can either overwhelm, or catch off guard. Hosts and hives can be selective or aggressive in finding hosts as they see fit.

Oh, this is neat-o! The process look more shocking than actually painful. Maybe they just get a bad rap because they look so menacing?
The description confuses me just a wee bit. Does it mean that, say, a male succubat might choose a female host because she actually had gender dysphoria and didn't know it, the male succubat can somehow identify this, and she would make a suitable host for the male succubat and the physical characteristics change to match? Or does it only happen by circumstance when hosts are scarce/highly vulnerable?
