I think shoebills are pretty cool birds, so I made a portrait style thing for one!
I usually draw really small so this was relatively a fairly large project (roughly 9x4,3/4in / 23x12cm). It was a bit overwhelming early on but as I got close to the end it really came together and I think it turned out pretty well. :)
Might turn this into a series, will see how I feel about it in the coming weeks.
mostly pencil, but there's also some charcoal mixed in (mostly for the large areas)
