Well, I've been thinking that I should submit more pictures of Arik, so let's make up for it by posting a billion drawings all at the same time.
Okay, in all seriousness, I came up with an idea for a character drawing exercise, and was dying to try it out. The idea was to take several sketches I had lying around (some of them recent, some of them over a year old) and line and color them. What I wanted was to make sure I could not only draw Arik consistently with different expressions and in different situations, but also to make sure his markings could be translated effectively from scene to scene. Like sometimes I make a marking too large, to the point that it won't fit on his face if his eyes are bugging out, or if I make his cheek fluff slightly too short. That ended up being the case here, and I decided to make a (relatively minor) change to the marking on his face, giving the second line a hook shape which I think works even better with the rest of his design.
Anyway, I ended up having a lot of fun with this. It really helped me become confident with more extreme expressions and assisted me in making his character design more consistent. I really recommend doing something like this if you're developing a character, especially with the intent of using them in a comic.
No critique desired. Please respect that.
