Doctor Iterati Trousers had gotten himself shrunk down. Again.
He sighed, dusting himself off as he got up off the admittedly pleasantly-clean floor. He was no stranger to the feeling of his physical existence literally dwindling down to a fraction of its former self, but this particular episode managed to knock him off of his feet. Shrinking was his curse; his fortune had became his stature, and when his luck ran out so did his size. He never shank for no reason, however, and the doctor had been quick to discover and document everything that would trigger it; being caught in the gaze of someone shorter or smaller than him, feeling nervous or intimidated, or--as he just now hypothesized, and noted that he'd need to test it thoroughly under controlled conditions later--something exploding in his face.
He had been working on creating a chemical serum, its purpose a small piece in a much larger scientific puzzle, when an accidental twitch caused him to jostle the delicate solution in the beaker he was holding. Naturally, as with nearly any mistake the doctor made these days, the solution exploded violently out of the beaker, the shock knocking Iterati backward. Fortunately none of the solution made contact with the doctor's face, and it quickly vaporized into nothing. The beakers and test tubes at the labs were all made of a very high-strength glass, so the beaker merely rocketed toward the floor and bounced around until it came to a rest on the other side of the room. The doctor would have been relieved, but that was when the shrinking started. Within two seconds, Doctor Trousers had diminished from his already-modest height of five feet and two inches to about six inches tall.
He felt even smaller than that as he got to his feet, as the laboratory room--along with most of the rest of the entire facility--was built to accommodate beings over eight feet tall, like Doctor Trousers' boss, Nevix. That was exactly who strolled into the room merely moments after the incident, and exactly the one person that the doctor knew he had to keep away from whenever he was shrunk. Doctor Trousers could feel the ground break contact with his feet with every resounding THUMP erupting from the gargantuan triceratops's footsteps. The doctor looked around frantically for a place to hide, but every cupboard door in the laboratory was closed tight, and the table in the middle of the room was supported by a single central leg, making it very easy for anyone to see underneath it. Fortunately for the doctor, Nevix was busy looking over a clipboard as he strolled around the room, and the dinosaur failed to notice his shrunken employee on the floor.
Unfortunately for the doctor, Nevix was busy looking over a clipboard as he strolled around the room, and the dinosaur failed to notice his shrunken employee on the floor lose his balance from one of the violent footsteps and fall back over, right into the path of an oncoming foot.
Iterati could only stare as three massive, clawed toes loomed over him. Cruely, time slowed down, and the doctor squirmed as those gargantuan toes lowered on top of him, hot and moist from Nevix walking in bare feet around the facility all day. Suddenly, Iterati's vision went dark, and his whole body was consumed in a hot, intense pressure.
He had just gotten stepped on by his boss.
NevixRaptor commissioned some extra renders of his character! He inspired me to try making a simple environment to play around in, which I'm glad for because even a simple background can add a lot to a picture. I was worried that Renderman wouldn't be able to handle an interior shot very well, as they've given me some painfully slow and noisy renders in the past, but my newfound experience with the renderer gave me some tricks that made it much more reasonable.
