My boy. He's taken.

Will add some bits and pieces of his info here as they come up.
Name: Denaelthis ("Den" if you're close)
Species: Night elf/Kaldorei
Age: 10k+ years
Class: Demon Hunter
Spec: Vengence/Tank
Professions: Skinning/Leatherworking
Likes: Meat, noodles, sleeping, (Noc)
Dislikes: kimchi, warlocks, being cold
Background:
Denaelthis was a soldier under the command of Lord Ravencrest before the sundering. He was present when Illidan Stormrage made the first of many terrible sacrifices to stop the Legion and--despite acknowledging the horrific loss of innocent life--shared the belief that no cost was too high to stop the Legion and save their world. He later numbered himself among the ranks of the Illidari, having made his own ultimate sacrifice in accordance with this belief.
Personality:
Den is rather dour and unapproachable; not the sort interested in making friends. He is loyal to the Illidari cause and extremely protective of his partner* Nocthel. Though that protective instinct is strongest (and most dangerous) when the other hunter is concerned, he is duty-bound to protect his fellow soldiers, and will defend them fiercely.
Demonic Influence:
In addition to his wickedly curved horns, Denaelthis has scales covering a significant portion of his body. The scaling intensified after the trauma of losing and fighting to regain Nothel back after his abduction (current state shown). These scales have reduced touch sensation and aid in his tanking abilities. His facial scars were self-inflicted during the rite of vision taken when he became a demon hunter, but he did not blind himself, and retains largely normal sight.
Den spends much of his free time sleeping. He can and will sleep for days after periods of intense fighting and activity, recharging his energy to bear the monumental brunt of battle. He sees this as an unfortunate side effect of his transformation, but is unaware of the severity of his condition; this sleep recovery is necessary to keep his inner demon in check. Without it, he would slowly lose himself to his demon side forever. He suffers poor quality of sleep out in the field or unfamiliar territory (most of the time). Luckily, Nocthel's presence has a soothing effect on him and lets him sleep deeply. Unbeknownst to either, their partnership has likely saved Den's life.
When well-rested, his control over his demonic abilities is unparalleled; he can remain in metamorphosis for hours--even days--at a time. His demonic form is very bestial, and rarely speaks.
Relationship:
The vengeance hunter was paired with his dps counterpart, Nocthel, during their time at the Black Temple. Sparring sessions revealed exceptional complementary fighting styles between the two, and tentative joint missions soon became the norm as they returned victorious time and time again. In addition to a growing friendship, their relationship became physical. As time has passed, it has become something more... and also it hasn't.
Any sort of deep bond or relationship between demon hunters would risk their impartiality; emotional attachment could jeopardize their unwavering dedication to the cause. Worse, if one fell, the other couldn't be trusted to do what must be done. The sort of thing that could jeopardize the lives of their fellow Illidari in a crisis and would be highly frowned upon in the ranks, if not outright forbidden.
The two are already far past this point, but won't admit it, even to themselves. Despite this, it wouldn't be hard to make assumptions; one is rarely found without the other unless missions separate them for a time (or Den is asleep).
The Incident:
Nocthel was abducted and held captive by a Shivaara and her minions. He was tortured over a period of weeks/months with the end goal of making him succumb to his inner demon and revert to a full demonic form to serve the Legion. He was given up as lost by the other Illidari, another sacrifice in fighting the Legion as so many others were before. Denaelthis was already compromised by their partnership at this point, and wouldn't give up. After struggling to find him for what felt like an eternity--not knowing what he would find, if his friend still even lived--he threw himself into the jaws of hell to bring the other back.
Miraculously, Noc had held out; he was still himself. Many demons died that day. Both were left with increased demonic attributes after the incident; Noc from his torture and demonic magics worked on him, and Den from the stress and sleepless nights of the other's loss. Their 'friendship" was deepened by this affair, though they're both dealing with the physical/emotional fallout.
Meta:
Den is not canonically the Slayer, though is a known and trusted soldier to Illidan.
*battle partner but... it's complicated. See "Relationship".
