This is the second badge I did after the Zelda badge. Done for
fala for the con_badge exchange.
This one's Dr. Who themed! That was one of the other three interests she had up.
This one was done via watercolour, inks, and coloured pencils on top of cold press watercolour paper, thus the texture. I hope to get some hot press watercolour paper one of these days, but it's so much more expensive!

Colour pencils are just EXCELLENT! :D I've done this here almost exclusively with colour pencils --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2456226
Er... except the left male Reptilian's skin and the rocks in the water. This has been coloured with MARKERS! (Little secret: colour pencils draw wonderfully on parts drawn by markers!)
I usually use pen and liquid ink - almost like you! Let's be honest here: liquid black ink and pen are just the BEST tools to draw fluid, dynamic, black lines!! :)
And colour pencils may have the call to be "child tools" - but it's not! You can do such wonderful, soft AND strong colours.
Just like here: your combination of colour pencils and watercolours is amazing. It gives the whole picture an atmosphere and feeling of a "photograph" or "postcard". It's very soft and yet colourful in a strong way.
Nicely done!! :)

That picture is adorable!! I wish I could see more clean, fun stuff like that on this site.
I actually just don't have any markers, or I would be using them all the time. I'm very interested in getting some Copic Sketch markers, the ones with the beautiful brush nib, but I simply can't afford it! Copics are very expensive, though also very worth the price. It's a dream of mine someday to get a set of copics and really learn how to use them, I've only had one opportunity to try them and it was intimidating at first, but very nice!

Thanks a lot! :) I have only "clean" stuff here... such as the majority of my works!
The copic markers are good, but they can be handled like "water colours"! What I'm talking about is the "permanent markers"! These are very strong (get through the paper, so be careful)!
But the copic ones are brilliant, too! If you draw a grass field (for example) with many green colour pencils, and paint over it with a few strokes of copic markers, it almost feels like you have water colours!! It gives the picture a very unique touch.... but you certainly know that. ^..^
Also, all great designers (fashion and movies) use copic markers. :)
Some day, you will get some! I'd start with only a few colours... in your case: grey, light green, light blue and a "pink like" tone! :D

Ever since your other comment, I've been looking for white acrylic colour like you recommended but I'm not sure EXACTLY what I'm looking for as most things pointed me to gesso, which is generally used as a primer.
Can you tell me if something like this would work for highlights and the like with a little brush?

These inks would work with a brush, but most of the colour would slip through the hair of the brush! After all: these are INKS and not full "thick" colours.
I have always used these:

But well, I suppose... when it comes to your style, the inks at "dickblick.com" are also good!! :)
Awwww..... look, they have good markers:

And this here is simple acrylic colour, which I would use for my "white highlights":

Sorry, I'm not as versed in acrylics as I am other mediums!
I'm looking at the last link you left me, it has many things to choose from. Would it be the Gloss Medium I'm looking at for using for highlights, or something else on that list?
And do you have a recommendation for a certain type of brush? If you could find one on Dickblick that you think would work well, I'd appreciate it! I'd like to order all the stuff for this together on that site if I can!

Gosh, I finally found it.... :D You're right, this site has SO much to offer... but here are some acrylics I would buy.
This is a complete list:

This one is pretty good:

I just can't tell, if you can use water to clean or blurr these colours. Maybe, they need a brush cleaner! :(
In both cases, "Titanium white" is the colour you need!
The brush set I'd propose you to order is:
http://www.dickblick.com/products/b.....r-white-round/
You would need the brush of the size "0"

Aw, one last thing... this picture is a good example, how markers, colour pencils and acrylics can work very strongly together:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2456202/
As you can see, I've used mostly permanent markers for Reptile's scales, copic markers for Kyle's face (human), colour pencils for many highlights (especially on the glowing crystal) aaaaaand: the very bright, white spots on Reptile's snout is white acrylic!!! :D
Maybe, this can help you a little - take care! ^..^
