i'm not good at making brushes by any means, but there's a couple that i've made for myself that i find myself using, so i thought i'd share! everything down to the brush shape was custom made by me. i only use clip studio, so im afraid these won't work for any other software.
1: GRITTY INKER
a happy medium between heavily textured and classic bold inking brush, i use this one quite a lot!

2: FLAT OIL
a simple flat oil brush that does what it's supposed to. adjust density for a lighter or heavier touch!
download link:

3: SOFTENER/RENDERER
as much as i like rough and textured strokes, i use this one to soften some parts up while still making them feel somewhat painterly. same goes for this one, adjust density as needed.
download link:

let me know if any of you decide to try them out! 0:-3c xoxo
oh and also, they are completely free of course, but if you end up liking them and wanna show some support i have a ko-fi here:

Hi, my last comment was kind of idiotic but I wanted to say something more serious than a bloated thank you.
I'm having trouble getting into digital line art. My traditional keeps improving but my digital is moving along at a snails pace. Are there any brushes in CSP you would recommend for a beginner?

weeell, as with traditional media, you can use virtually any tool to make good looking stuff, provided you know how. for example i absolutely hate drawing with fineliners like micron etc, but i love blunt fat felt tip ink pens.
i'm certainly no master at line art related stuff so i can't give you any good beginners advice, but what i do myself is to look for brushes that emulate what i draw with traditionally, that have a good "feel" to them when i use them you know? so i can't tell you what's gonna feel right for you, you're just gonna have to experiment, but i can give you some examples of brushes i use a lot:
these two i downloaded from the clip studio hub thing; which btw is a great way to find brushes even though most of it is in japanese. i just download what looks good and experiment!
ガサ伽サ線画ペン
アナログ風Gペン(墨っぽい)
my starter pack was the inkers from Flyland Designs, simple but nice and varied. if you get them though i think all of them are set to the lowest anti-aliasing, which makes them look pixelated. just turn it up a notch for smoother lines.
http://www.zombieyeti.com/free-mang.....nk-brush-pens/ i use the go-to as my standard classic round brush, when i feel like using something like that.
and of course, my own inker above. but sometimes i just use whatever because i want to and i'm not very structured
so, in short:
it's all personal preference. fuck around until you find something comfortable!
(and don't forget to draw long lines from the elbow and save the wrist and fingers for the smaller details)

Practicing long lines and huge circles is my warm up every time I draw. I feel like I never really use them though. I understand it's more for muscle memory than anything else.
Thanks for all the pointers. This looks like it will be super helpful. There was a minute where I was just emulating GlitterTrapBoy's brushes. I love his style but I don't want to just become a clone of one person.
Imma try out all these brushes and search for more. Thank you so much! You're a total sweetheart!

definitely! it's good to be able to draw big - if you only ever draw zoomed in, the drawings tend to end up looking a little warped and not very comprehensive.
i believe in the sentiment that bad artists steal from one person, good artists steal from everything and everyone. what gives an artist 'style' is usually a mishmash of what inspires them; not being ~Original~ to begin with. even if i find myself wanting to try out a technique that i like, and i'm like shit, this is gonna look like a ripoff, in the end i incorporate so many other things i've picked up along the way subconsciously that it doesn't even remotely look like what i was fearing haha. so don't sweat it, you'll find something you're comfy with sooner or later if you just keep creating
oh and also, i forgot to say, if digital lines just ain't your thing the dropbox app for example has a "scanner" that automatically makes photos of drawings ready to paint under if you just set them to multiply! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23785496/ i'm sure there are other similar services but this one worked well for me as a substitute for a scanner.
no problem! i'm happy to help if i'm able! <0:-3c
