This is my first attempt at using feathers on a mask and probably the single most intricate piece I have done in a while, with the large amount of 3mm bugle beads stitched onto the mask. I am very happy with how it came out. Only after working on my Brown Feathered Mask (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24240141/) did I figure out how to finish this piece, since the feathers were being uncooperative. I needed to add a back piece of Ostrich leather to support the feathers.

Working with feathers...is an unpleasant experience at best, particularly when mixed with Elmer's Extreme extra-strength glue. The extra strength glue is much less runny and stickier than their school grade glue (my favorite for leather working since it allows for some adjusting by wetting the leather if I need to change something after the piece is dry), so it is ideal for feathers. The real problem is the feathers, which I have been getting online, since feathers are an animal product so quality control is always fun. Feathers also have a direction they prefer to curve so I have to take that into consideration. Added all together, it made for an interesting experience.

I think I will be making more masks with feathers, they come out looking amazing.
