Originally those were going to be catches for the collar but I thought they would work better as silver bars, I didn't want to copy Star Trek's button insignias.

you know that uniform was designed by some pervy general or something. Cadets wear fairly standard jackets and pants while puppers get issued black and white g-strings, little vests and collars
