Ricky Dalton is a soon-to-be recurring character from the side story, TSAT Riptide. His views are much more different than that of his peers, showing much more than a little glimmer of intelligence. Luck helps with survival as well, having walked away from the Jake-alikes unscathed.
His allegiance with any faction is very gray, as he is not sure really who to trust.

Interesting character...
So, I actually have a few questions.
I just found TSAT recently and got curious: Is this Mech Warriors thing a book, or a videogame?
Either way, where can I get a copy of it? I'm really interested in both the book listed in TSAT and the game that you guys are playing.

Alright, thank you.
I think you've been doing an excellent job with your drawings and your comic.
I actually like how dark you've been doing the comic. The happy go lucky Sonic just gets old for me, as nothing ever changes in them.
Do you have a suggestion which of the two games (Battle Tech or Mech Warriors) would be a better buy for someone who like to play shooting games from behind the vehicle/person?

Hey, Prdarkfox.
I ran into someone on the way home who reminded me of your character Jake Pryde.
Passed the guy on his bike.
You could see his musculer build through his shirt, he had a grizzled look, and he had a stare that can pierce souls. You know, that kind of look that makes you both respect and fear the man at the same time!
Thought I'd mention it.
Anyways, the full game arrived yesterday. A loud HURRAY for what is called "First Class" mail these days!
You order today, tomorrow deliveries....
Anyways, I do believe the Couger just lost my vote for favorite light Mech...
The Wolfhound currently holds that position, as it has more armor, speed, and option capacity while dealing more damage.
If all of the Wolfhound's lasers strike the same part on an enemy Mech, your enemy can kiss that part goodbye!!
I still like the Hellhound and Hellspawn as Medium Mechs, but I absolutly (Hopefully temporarily) hate Heavy Mechs!! Especially on the field, as you can't even get turned around to aim at your opponents before they get behind you again!!

Certain 'Mechs still pilot well in the medium class. However I recommand giving the Bushwacker a shot. ;)
Also, do take care to download the MekPaks on http://mektek.net.

Ok, checking their website. Thx.
I gave Bushwacker a try. It's pretty good, but it relies too much on its auto-cannon...
Personally, I don't like ammunition rounds... Machine style weapons just don't really work for me on Mechwarrior...
I'll bet the reason is because I don't have a steady enough aim, yet. XD
Right now, I prefer laser and lock-on missile weapons.
Major question, though:
While I was using the Bushwacker, I had it set for a weapon group that didn't have the autocannon armed, and the autocannon fired in between the ammunition bursts.
What happened there?

Never thought of that combination... leaves you open inbetween bursts once you run out of sreaks, though...
And instant action levels are rediculous. Those missions are meant for multiple Mechs and you have to do them alone!
The Mansion Mission is especially dificult with two lances of Mechs and tanks, and they expect you to save all of the mansions for a perfect clear.
... And I can't keep my armor on against that many opponents, yet...
Ideally, this would be great for a large Mech, but the luggards are too slow to get anywhere in decent time on the map.
And since when can't you shot while turning?!
I'm good at that in other games, but they don't let you do it on Mechwarrior...
Still, the game is a lot of fun. I've even recommended it to others, so the story is still spreading around.

Instant Action: You're permitted lancemates, just select the MechWarrior's skill level.
Mansion: It's very possible. You can do it with two lances of mediums or lights, or -- my way -- three heavy 'Mechs. One of them piloted by myself is a Catapult with a couple of Streak upgrades and gratuitous amounts of Clan LRMs.
Keeping your armor on: Use Torso-twist and let your lancemates pick their targets. Some joysticks have a twist, I myself have the twist bound to "<" and ">". HANDY. Also, having a few punch weapons to finish off foes quickly can help get you out of a jam.
Heavy speed: The heavier the unit, the slower it may be. Some units such as the Loki, Thor, and Mad Cat however, come pretty quick. Some other 'Mechs you can at least upgrade the speed, for instance I have gotten a Catapult to haul ass at 100 kph, and the Thanatos almost as fast.
Shooting while turning: Again, torso twist. I also recommend a joystick for careful aiming.
Also, thanks for spreading the game around. It's just one of those games that outlasts time. :)

I just learned the lancemate thing... It'd help if they showed a picture there to let you know you can select them, but oh well.
I won that mission with a lance of medium / light Mechs just now, but I lost the one mansion because it took a loose salvo...
... Note to self: Draw enemy units away from your objective points...

As for the armor: Keeping my armor on didn't mean "One Spot"...
Sometimes I'm literally glowing red all over at the end of a mission, depending on what I got hit by.
Hmmm... I kinda hate getting hit by PPCs, but don't mind shooting them. XD
Also, why do some enemies selfdestruct? I go in to finish them, and I waste my ammo.

Lol! Yeah... found that out my first Solaris Run.
First enemy I ever killed (Took place in the demo, no less) was sitting on my Mech when he blew!
Had some fun finishing that level.
Never died in an actual campeign mission, though.
Just failed a couple.
... ...
I have a nack for damaging my Mechs... I'm always coming in red-hot something..
But I've only overheated once, in a stock Mech no less...
I guess I just make 'em heat efficient, but not armor efficient...
Seriously, I can't find a use for the "special armors." There is always both kinds of fire flying around! What's the point of opening yourself to one kind to defend better against the other?

Heat Sinks aren't much of a concern if you don't bring (m)any energy weapons.
Special Armor: I always use Ferro-Fibrous, and in most cases try to maximize it. The damage reduction from one type of armor isn't enough to warrant the extra tonnage. Missiles' Achilles heel is not Reactive or Reflective, but LAMS. You can devote 1.5 tons to most 'Mechs for a LAMS system and get a great deal of missile protection.
Jump Jets in MW4 I think are useless, save your tonnage for a better engine, more weapons or heat sinks. The Advanced Gyro MIGHT be a good option, however, in case you're expecting any big guns (such as Gauss rifles) to come your way.

Heh, those are all good ideas. Thx.
Meh, I like the jump jets, personally, because I get stuck on things a lot, and because I'm also an over-the-hills-we-go sort of operative on my missions. I always get to my destinations faster than I'm supposed to, so I wipe out the enemy forces on my terms.
! !
Lol! There's my answer! It's my attack stategy! I'm all offense, so I get nailed while going in! XD

Ya know... I think I prefer the Solaris Matches to the actual missions...
The point that I put them in Light Mechs is that I trust them to get the job done...
Remember, I said I like to rush in "vigilanty style." That means I do need my teamates with me.
Hmmm.... As for the team commands, I think they are freakin awesome. I made use of those right away.
I'm starting to use the heavier arsenels now. There's some sweet fire-power in there.

Hmm... the freaken PPC is awesome!
Is there a point-blank factor in the game? Because I practically blew a guy's head off by accident when I passed him while firing my PPC at another guy across the battle field. (My target was 555m away and the person I hit was literally inches from my gun...)
