Trebban Pravus, a hare who has been in military service most of his adult life, finds himself on the road and without employment. When at last he reaches a large city, he finds there is no need for him there, so he begins to go hungry. In a desperate attempt to keep some money in his pocket, the hare signs himself up for a prizefighting match, and enters the ring not having eaten in two days. Hunger can be an incredible motivator.
