meet aivyn.
yes, his name's similarity to the word "ivy" is quite intentional. :B derp
he was a human child who ate an enchanted bean, which took root in his sternum and sprouted gradually over time. you can see the stems as dark spots under his skin. :3
he also has several vines/tendrils, one wrapped around his waist and several around his lower half. they are prehensile and great for manipulating objects at necessity, as his hand's grip is limited.
speaking of which...his left arm is entirely coated in bark, while the lower portion of his right did not take well to the rest of his body's transformation and, as a result, completely sloughed off. he's fine with that, though; he has plenty of manual dexterity with his tendrils anyway :3
aivyn is capable of uprooting himself and moving to different locations by shedding the bark covering his lower half; underneath is a flexible core similar to the body of a snake. it is very sensitive, however, and it can take weeks for all of the bark to re-grow. soooo he doesn't do a lot of movin' around. xD
he is generally a very happy plant boy. all he really needs is water, sunlight, and a lot of love. his older brother makes sure to water him every day (aivyn lives in the family orchard and tends to their veggies for them 8D) and give him hugs and pats on the head, and in return, brother-kun gets plantysnuggles. :B
aivyn LOVES basking in the rain but he's terrified of storms. his worst fear is getting struck by lightning, since he's seen terrible things happen to lightning-struck trees before.
he retained his human intelligence (and most of his personality) despite his drastic transformation, but lost his ability to form coherent sentences, but he doesn't need to do a whole lot of talking anyway so he's okay with that. xD
his best friends are the worms under the grass and the birds who perch on his shoulders and tell him stories. :3 and of course his brother who goes to talk to him every day and deliver much platonic love <3
SPEAKING OF PLATONIC LOVE i have a HUGE platonic boner for monsterboys and plantboys. D: I THINK THEY'RE TOTES ADORABLE ;_; especially when they're happy.
