Thanks. I admit, there's a part of me that wants to model something more realistic, as the almost superhero stylings of this one makes it feel almost more like a toy than a weapon to me, but I can see things from your perspective as well. It's possible that the colored lighting is creating at least some of my impression.
Depends on what you mean by "work". It doesn't have any animations or anything associated with it-- right now, what you see is all there is to it. It's also pretty reliant on subdivision surfaces, which makes it not so hot an option for games, but it could be modified without too much trouble, probably. Not that I have any experience in setting up things for Second Life.
