Well, this is a plan that's been bumbling around in my head for a bit, and I've just managed to draw it up.

Anyway, I was thinking that I could make up a 'glove' that I could attach the structure to, that isn't attached to the outer skin/fur. It might take a few seconds longer to get on, but this way, it would be really easy to replace the struts if they were to break, and the glove would hold them on my fingers.
