Flight Rising Portraits (2h): Monet
Gotta remember to keep chipping away at these posts! This actually turned out to be one of my bar-none favorites from the impressionist phase of my portrait noodlings; the tundra's colors are what originally dictated her name-- Monet-- which in turn provided natural inspiration for where I wanted to go with the aesthetic of her bust. I'm pretty sure I was directly referencing one of my favorite evening haystack studies again for the color palette; I'm a HUGE sucker for warm, soft purples and golds in that pairing very particular to golden hour evening light.
Since tundras are notorious for having memory problems, I decided that she uses her vocation (painting) as a way to record things she wants preserved in her mind. She's a pleasant soul.
Happy Friday, all!
