I DID COLOR THIS IMAGE
Returning home from hanging out, I was getting changed for work when I heard Gabe speak up outside my room.
"Hey Ark? I need to show you something really quick."
Changing my shirt, I walked out seeing him sitting cross legged on the couch with that book of his opened up. Thinking back on it, that whole incident with the explosion could've been explained with some fireworks that Gabe bought. I sure as hell wouldn't put it past him to do it, only question would be why. Maybe just to prove a point about me being gullible.
"Are you still messing with that thing? Come on Gabe, I took you for being smart. I'd expect you to be more scientific about this or something."
Gabe didn't even look up as he turned one of the pages.
"Looking at things with a critical eye or "scientific" way of doing things doesn't rule out not using things or methods that may appear to be against that. It just means I'm going about using it while being as rational as possible."
I rolled my eyes and was about to go back to getting ready for work, but he continued.
"After the incident with that fireball I tried to create the other night, I realized I needed to start more simpler. More on applications that would be actually useful. Stuff that even we could use and well... I figured I should at least thank you for the ice cream today."
I smiled a bit and shrugged.
"Really Gabe, It's no big deal. You don't have to go all elaborate with this magical facade just to-"
I waved my up near my head just to dismissively gesture along with calling this whole thing a facade when I suddenly felt something in my hand. I turned to look and I couldn't do anything but stare dumbfounded.
There looked to be a green swirling circle hovering near me. It gave off slight heat and almost looked like a special effect from a movie. Sticking out of the center of this thing looked like... a sword hilt? And apparently that's what I was grabbing onto.
I didn't really know what to think at this moment. Just that by instinct alone, I started pulling it out and almost immediately recognized it when it was out all the way. I turned to Gabe in shock.
"This... this is..."
Gabe finally looked up from his book and waved his hand once, the green swirl suddenly disappearing along with the heat it gave off and leaving no evidence as if it was never there. Save for the blade that was now in my hand. Yet it was different from when I last saw it, tossed in the corner of my room. I mean, aside from the obvious fact that it wasn't broken anymore, but the sword actually looked incredibly sharp!
"You spend your money on it, figured you'd want it fixed. Although I think the spell just saw it as a katana in general and repaired it as an actual blade and not that replica crap you bought."
I could still barely even think or talk. There's no way Gabe could have the money to just have this thing fixed! And with an actual cutting edge to it?!
Is... is he actually using real magic?
