Friends of Anthrocon: Lewis
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Anthrocon 2017, June 29-July 2, five new character standees joined the "Friends of Anthrocon" to represent convention partners to attendees and the public! I continued my position as Anthrocon staff in this second stage of the project.
It was important to me that each mascot expressed different interests, body type, gender expression, and so on to illustrate the welcome and open nature of the fandom at its best, so you may notice this reflected in the characters!
The Homewood hotel actually had an existing mascot character they wanted us to use, so we adapted Lewis here to the standee format! How does he play the trombone with a beak? He's very talented.

I know that Lewis works for the Hilton Homewood. However, he could pass off for a performer at the Peabody Hotel In Memphis.
(Lewis marches into the lobby around 11:00 CT to the tune of Sousa's "King Cotton March". He then heads into the lounge to perform.)
I read online that Anthrocon 2020 had been canceled for safety reasons. Anthroncon is still scheduled to return in 2021. Unfortunately, there is a chance that AC2021 may also be canceled. Maybe AC2021 should consider a virtual meet for 2021.
