Final Fantasy 7 for the PC. Ah the nostalgia.
one of the previous line was "your peen never came"
There needs to be a submission category for asinine bullshit.
Huge props to
sidian for convincing me once upon a time to name Epona "yer peen". This shit never fails to make me laugh.

It depends on the generation. Original fans love 1-3, the next go for 3/4-6, the next start at 7 and go through 9, love resting with any one of the three, then the next gen started with 10. It's like the Trekkie wars, Kirk fans dis Picard and Janeway and vice versa. Unfortunately the gen who got 10 missed out on ALL the glory years and only caught on when FF forgot the meaning of classic RPG. >< A world of hack and slack cookie cutter. Regardless of their reasons. ><'
I have yet to see a single copy of the originals on the PS2, BUT, I am waiting for the 20th Anniversary pack of FFI and II to be released here on the PSP and get it then.. For biased reasons I do not own a single Nintendo console, and thusly do not own DS to get the 3-5 they made on it.
I had forgotten the DS. I agree there. I don't think the Wii was ever meant to be 'serious' if I'm thinking the way you're thinking. Nintendo has evolved into the 'child' of the systems. PS is the teen and Microsoft is the adult, albeit the very unreliable, bi-polar (and possibly emo) adult. I do think Nintendo has been one of the generally more reliable and backward compatible systems, not counting the major data changes they've gone through, and they use the Wii to allow the older games to still be bought and played. Granted PS and Micro don't *have* the older older games to put forth, but when your system can't play the disc that came out two months ago (talking in retrospect to when the newer ones were new) there's a problem. Only reason I don't have the newer systems is cause the PS is ridiculously expensive for a single system (I know, the whole blue ray thing), and I'd need to get two x-boxes to avoid downtime between red rings.
I would have to agree on your definations of what 'age' the consoles would be, you could say Nintendo died and a new one was born, Microsoft is growing old, and Playstation and Sony are coming to their prime soon enough. Or as Yachtzee said it, Wii is a kiddie machine, PS3 an all family entertainment system, and Xbox360 is a frat-boy ritalin-poppin' FPS-gamers console.
You'll have to remember that PS2 is actually still selling more than the PS3, but mostly they're being bought side by side to gain that backwards compatibility they've almost lost (remember the PS Network store, they sell a variety of oldie PSX goldies, such as FFVII <3). The XBOX360 from what I know does have limited BC, no idea how limited, but some support..
And yes, I do agree that the PS3 is a bit high on price even now. But remember, it used to cost 600 euros... 350 euros is very affordable compared to that. And trust me, the quality between blu-ray and DVD is VERY VISIBLE! (though you can get the same result by burning a HD quality video onto a DVD in full DVD-size, it looks quite good that way too, and the PS3 plays them <3).
And I watched the E3 clips of the three, I gotta say, PS3 is looking like the winner this year, with what, 300 new titles coming out... Oh well.

"Wii is a kiddie machine, PS3 an all family entertainment system, and Xbox360 is a frat-boy ritalin-poppin' FPS-gamers console" <-- Dude. Awesome.
I love my PS2 to death. It and my Gamecube are the only systems I've never had problems with. My mother decided my Xbox needed to be stored in the garage, and a year later we have yet to find it. What with America and all, I don't go by Euros, ;p I don't remember the starting price, but it's still $500 to $600. ><' I'll have to check out the PS network store, wasn't aware of it, not that I've had tons of money for games. Blu-ray doesn't do much for me since HD doesn't do anything for me either XD I'm still on a heavy round old screen with more parts than a 3 and up toy.

x) Oh you Americans have it cheap... One euro is something like 1.4 dollars I think at the moment, so you can calculate it from there... And yeah, the PSN store has PSX games sold for 4.95 euros for the most part (FFVII was 9.99) There's also a good bit of other stuff in there, like WipEout HD (<3), and well, it never hurts to be prepared for a time when you do get a Full HD TV :P
Yes, there are people who liked 8, and yes, I kind of disregarded 6 due to it not having been released on the Playstation until much later. I am a member of that generation where you either had a NES or not, and I didn't. I might've become a member of the Sega fandom, but PS won, and I've stuck with it since. So I have not had the chance to play Final Fantasies from 1-6 on their original titles on the S/NES, 6 only on the PSX. There's a reason many like FF9 most, since it looks most like the older FFs, like 6, kind of a return to the roots.
My brother and I used to get a kick out of naming the old NES characters "Fuck", "Shit", "Bitch" etc, because longer things wouldn't fit.
But it was funny when one of them awoke to find the others missing.
"FUCK! Where's Shit? Bitch! Ass! Where are you!" or something along those lines.
Also, when they get killed in battle. "Shit fell"

Ah, I remember playing FF7 on my PC. I wonder if they released any patches for it? After the third crash trying to get through Cloud's angsty interactive dream sequence with no bloody save points I gave my disks to a friend and took up another game. A shame, really, it was a good game, although I really came to dislike Cloud.
