Alistar had planned this for years, but could never seem to clinch a good opportunity to do it, until one day he found his golden opportunity.
He was always stationed with other unicorns in the Fable Militia, and rarely did he ever patrol or scourge planets without at least one unicorn comrade. Lord Dakaan, the Fable Empire's dragonian leader, made it clear that under no circumstances should a unicorn be stationed without at least one other unicorn. This order was given due to his fear of a coup. Unicorns are universally considered the "master race" among the races of mythical beasts due to their powers, and Lord Dakaan has a hatred and fear of them. A hatred so real, that he put in place secret and underhanded policies to disadvantage the magical equines, such as allowing hospitalized unicorns to die by feigning that they don't have the technology to save them, and giving orders to his troops to leave injured unicorns for dead on the battlefield. Ranking unicorn members on Dakaan's council have even mysteriously disappeared, including Alistar's father, when Alistar was about 10 years old. He left to be raised by the militia; his mother died when he was born, and he had no more known relatives alive.
Much of his history and the happenings within dragon-unicorn relations made Alistar very skeptical. He had never fully trusted Dakaan, and with every passing day, Alistar became more and more aware of Dakaan's extremist ways, and that's when he decided that he had to get out. He had to rebel.
The day came when he was sent with a troop to planet earth. It seemed to be a very habitable planet, and he was the only unicorn in his troop. After several years of inderect unicorn purge, Dakaan had loosened up on the "at least two unicorns together at all times" order, since he was comfortable with the fact that the majority of unicorns left were practically brainwashed to the dragonian agenda, and Alistar was one of his most-trusted captains. That fateful day, Alistar was sent to earth with all dragons, minus a couple of gryphons; taking them out would be a piece of cake. Fire might have not been able to kill a dragon, but he had magic, and in battle, not even magic can kill a unicorn.
The troop landed in the cool north. It was springtime and the sun was setting; it was very mild, but the villagers of Mt. Tassel weren't. They had heard talk from other regions about "aliens" or "demons" descending from the great blackness of the sky, but most in Mt. Tassel passed it off as hogwash, that is, until the group of horned and winged strangers crept up on the edge of town from their space ship. The close-knit town banded together. The men and women, and even travelers took their place in the defence, shoulder to shoulder behind the guardians of Mt. Tassel, the wolf brothers Halor and Claude, who had their machetes at the ready.
Alistar flanked a Fable Ambassador, who stood there and "made dealings" with the guardians. He always spoke with a forked tongue, and Alsitar always new the end result. No matter what compromise would be reached, every villager would be killed, and the purge of the planet would begin so it could be used for resources, divided up, and sold. It sickened Alistar, but he wasn't in a position to say anything about it. He had to fultill his role, or be excecuted, but he thought to himself that that part if his life would be over, today. In swift fashion, he cut the slender ambassador in half with one swipe, and made short work of a couple of other small guards. The gryphons flew off to alert base, but he took them out just as quick as the others; with his bow and arrow, his deadeye aim served him well, and they fell like stones to the ground. His bladed bow hacked and slashed down his comrades for what felt like hours. When the last one fell, he was exhausted. When he turned to the villagers, they were in awe, and still so afraid. Halor stepped forward, but before Alistar could even acknowledge him, Halor sprinted forward and gouged him in the stomach with an unbelievably powerful, glowing blow. How was it that this creature was able to use magic? It occurred to Alistar, however, that unicorns could not be hurt by magic, so what exactly WAS this power, and how could it have done so much damage to a unicorn? Alistar's breath had left him, and with his mouth agape, he looked down into his hand that had cupped over his stomach. It was filled with blood, and that was the last thing he saw before he blacked out.
