Got off early last night and had the idea for this piece brewing in my head all day.
Almost got caught sketching it under the bar counter. Haha
I plan on making a couple more images for this, not sure how many though. It was really fun to draw my girl in such an unusual position, and the webbing and spider were a fun challenge too.
But anyways, enjoy the pic and the story that goes with it.

The morning started out like any other.
Valorian made her way along the path of vines that lead from tree to tree. She wasn't fond of this trip into the village, but she knew it was necessary today. She had eaten the last of her fruit the night before, and the pangs of hunger were starting to gnaw at her. The village had one strict rule above all others, any food found is to be brought to the Reserve. She wasn't fond of this system, as it didn't mark who had brought in what. So more often than not, she would find a delicious rarity in the trees, and be forced to bring it to the village where someone else usually ended up getting it.
But at the same time she understood why things were done this way. About 20 years ago the rainforest experienced the heaviest drought in recorded history. The lack of water killed off many of the plants, including the fruit baring ones that her kind lived off of. Many dragons died from starvation... So when the rains finally came back the village elders set a new law in action. Any food found was to be brought to the Reserve where it would be frozen and kept until it was needed. Thus preventing a tragedy like that from ever happening again.
However it wasn't the trip for the food rations that made her dread this trip. Valorian hated going into the village, because of the ones who lived there.
As she approached the archway of branches, a group of four males and two females stared at her. She did her best to ignore them and kept going towards the Reserve. As she passed them, she heard them whispering about her, just like they always did. They knew she was different because she didn't have wings like the rest of them. And on top of that, she didn't have the ability to breathe an element either. They taunted her by intentionally stretching their feathered wings as she walked by.
After receiving her rations from the Reserve, she began heading out of the village. She was nearly at the gates before the dragons from before stopped her.
"And just where are you going Wingless?" A bright red male asked. There was an air of sarcasm in his voice.
Valorian narrowed her brow. "I'm going home. Please, just leave me alone." She pleaded. A blue and gray male reached out and snatched the satchel with her rations in it from her back. "Hey! Give that back!" The male ignored her and proceeded to open the bag. He took out three mangos and tossed one to each of the other males. They took a large bite of each one, letting the juices drip down their chins.
"Aww I'm sorry, were those yours?" The blue male mocked. Valorian's ears pulled back. She reached out and snatched her satchel back. Half her food, gone just like that. The four remaining pieces would have to last her all week now. She drooped her head and walked by them. They let her pass, but as she was walking along the vines on her way home they charged passed her. She felt one of them steal the satchel from her back and looked to see who had done it. The same blue and gray male who had taken it before. He swung it tauntingly at her.
Valorian bared her teeth and set off after them. They, in turn, ran away. She chased them along the vines and onto new tree branches. They leaped from branch to branch with ease, and Valorian kept up behind them. She watched as they leaped from a large branch and spread their wings to glide safely to the next tree. They continued running away from her, their laughter echoing as they gained distance. Infuriated, Valorian charged with as much speed as she could and leaped from the branch. Her claws reached out for the next one, but she didn't have enough speed and started to fall short. She flailed desperately to grab the branch, her claws just barely rasping it enough to leave a scratch mark before she fell from the treetops.
She braced herself for the incoming impact, but instead of hitting the hard ground she felt her body slam into something thin and sticky. Opening her eyes she glanced around and saw hundreds of thin ivory threads tangled around her body. She gasped, as she knew exactly what they were.
"Spider threads!" She exclaimed. "Someone please! Help me! I'm caught in a web!" She cried out, but no one answered her call. Desperately she began struggling, trying to bread the hold the sticky chains had on her. She kicked out with her right back leg in an attempt to cut the threads with her long dewclaw. She kicked again and again and again until her foot became tangled in the sticky threads, arching it close to her head. She pulled, trying to free it, but to no avail. Valorian struck out with her left front leg, trying to use her long limbs to wriggle free. But as she swung her arm back it became entangled in a mass of near invisible threads. The more she struggled to free it, the more tightly wound the threads got. She bucked her entire body, thrashing with all her might to tear herself free. But the webs still held her firmly in place. Breathing heavily she stopped struggling for a moment to catch her breath and think. She had to calm down or the owner of the web would surely feel the vibrations and-
The web shook.
Her eyes went wide as she slowly looked over her shoulders and saw a massive black arachnid approaching her. It plucked each strand of the webbing like a master harp player. She mouthed the word 'No' over and over again, unable to speak it with her breath caught in her throat. It wasn't until she felt the spider touch her with one of it's long legs that she found her voice again.
"NO! Let me go! Please! I'm not your prey! I'm a dragon!" Valorian cried. The spider seemed to stop and listen to her pleas for a moment. But then it crawled over her and reached back to its abdomen. From its spinnerets it pulled several sticky threads and proceeded to wrap them around Valorian's extended back leg and rump. She tried to pull her leg away from its reach, but the spider's legs were nearly the length of her entire body, and it was standing directly over her. There was no way she could pull out of its reach. She felt the sticky threads grab her thighs and hold onto them like strings of glue. She wriggled as the spider pulled more and more warm silk from its abdomen and wrapped it around her legs and tail.
"Stop! Please don't wrap me up! I- I'll roast you alive! I mean it! I'm a dragon! That means I breathe FIRE!" She threatened. The spider appeared to have understood her threat, for it suddenly lunged at her head and pressed its spinnerets directly to her mouth. Before she could even protest, she felt her mouth being flooded with hundreds of sticky threads. They all stuck together in her mouth and formed a sticky mass of webbing that silenced her.
"Mmmmpphhhh!!!" She cried out through the webbing coating her tongue. The spider pulled its abdomen away from her mouth, pulling a sticky trail of silk with it. The arachnid took its back legs to that trail of silk and proceeded to wrap it tightly around her snout. "Mmmph! Mmmphhhhhh!!!" Valorian moaned through her silken gag.
Satisfied that the threat of fire was neutralized, the spider continued to wrap its sticky webbing around her neck. Layer after sticky layer was added as it worked its way down her neck and towards her chest. As it reached her shoulders, the spider reached out with two of its longer legs and grabbed her right arm. With incredible strength it pulled her outstretched arm and pressed it to her chest. Its abdomen came around and kissed her paw, attaching a thick band of sticky silk to it. The spider pulled the sheet tightly around her chest once, then twice, firmly securing her arm to her body.
"Mmmpphhh!" She cried out as she thrashed her body. The spider was shaken off her, which apparently angered it for it crawled above her and wrapped a tight collar around her neck before pulling the threads and attaching them to a mass of webbing she hadn't been tangled in. It then moved to her rump and wrapped another noose around the base of her tail before pulling it tight and attaching it to more of the web. Valorian's body was now pinned by two anchor points. She thrashed and thrashed but it was no use. With her body firmly secured to the massive web, she couldn't wriggle free from her captor. The spider went back to work, reaching out and grabbing her other front leg and pinning it to her body just like it had done with the first. Another thick sheet of sticky cocooning silk was pulled from its abdomen as it wrapped her arm to her chest. She could feel the already tight webbing getting tighter as it cooled. She knew she had to do something or it would be too late to ever escape. With all her might she pulled at the threads holding her tail. She felt it snap free as she swung it at the looming arachnid. A couple blows struck it on its side, but as she went to strike it a third time it grabbed her tail with its spinnerets and pulled it to its full length before wrapping it to the rear anchor point.
Valorian tried to kick the spider off her with her back legs, but just as before the giant arachnid proved its strength over her by grabbing her back legs and pulling them straight back and securing them to her tail. It proceeded to wrap them in its sticky silk, ensuring she couldn't kick out. Her long body was so tightly wrapped by the silk that she could barely wriggle, but the spider wasn't even close to being done with her. With its prey firmly secured and unable to attack it anymore, the spider snipped the threads holding her body to the web, save for the two anchor points. Suddenly she felt her world start to spin as the spider rotated her body under its abdomen. A thick sheet of sticky cocooning silk was pressed to her trapped flesh as it turned her over and over again with its powerful legs. "MMMMPPPHHH!!!" She screamed as the tight cocoon was wrapped around her body again and again. Each rotation made the cocoon tighter. As the spider reached her head it stopped. Some of her lovely red head feathers were trapped beneath the ivory webbing, but her ears and face were left free. She tried to wriggle, but with her body as stuck as it was she ended up looking like a worm wriggling on the end of a hook. The spider clicked its fangs as it inspected its catch. It poked and prodded her form, watching as the layers of silk would indent and then spring back.
Valorian closed her eyes and looked away, expecting it to bite her and inject its venom into her body. But the bite never came. She peeked and looked around. The spider was resting on the web a short distance away, making small repairs to the masterwork of its trap. As it repaired the broken threads, Valorian noticed that its abdomen began pulsating. She wasn't sure what it meant, but deep in her gut...
She had a feeling she knew just what the arachnid had planned for her...
