The mountain scouts are considered the elite of Vulpinia's mountain troops. Every soldier in the FVF is trained in mountain warfare. The scouts (or mountaineers) is the only unit to specialize completely in mountain warfare. If the FVF is called upon to take defensive or offensive measures in a mountain environment, they will always lead the assault/defense. The Scouts however are always able to take on the role of a standard infantryman.

Although they are reffered to as the Border Guard, they are the Republic's main police force. They are trained to take on the roles of defensive infantry,police,and if necessary assault/shock troops. Although they are not considered to be an Elite force, but they are considered to be the Republic's first line of defense.
