A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT
So like, three years ago, I think? I had developed an idea for a series based loosely on a novel I was writing about six years ago. The novel was about class warfare or some shit like that and how progress is bad (I was in high school, bear with me), and the premise was that society had destroyed the planet and went on to live in the sky on manufactured clouds or some shit? And the story featured either a teenager or a young adult or something being sent to work with a scavenger on the lower tier of the sky world thing, slowly discovering the atrocities his society covered up until being captured by sky raiders and held prisoner on the hollow shell of earth.
ANYWAYS, I took the same premise of young adult being forced to work with incompetent simpleton in a more slapstick tone set in space. A very sarcastic version of space (this strip takes place in Space Minnesota at the Mall of Space, for example). Space is vast and full of foreign life, but most of the focus is on Earth, which has imploded, shooting countries and provinces deep into space where they become their own planets, which is why there's a Space Minnesota. Officer Stumpinsky, top of his class at the Space Police Academy is shipped off to Space Mexico (which is pretty much a space superpower) where only the best of the best serve. However, due to a computer glitch, he is assigned Space Wolf as a partner, an overtly proud Space Mexican who has been held responsible for the numerous deaths of his superiors due to incompetence. Together, they cruise around space, enforcing space traffic laws and getting into all sorts of hijinks with the monsters and aliens that inhabit space.
Originally, and still to this day, I intended for this to be an animated series, but with all the sci-fi mystery stuff already on the air like Rick and Morty, Gravity Falls, and Space Dandy (which was actually the biggest influence), I feel like it would fall flat and be too hard to pitch to get a dedicated crew working on something like this. So for now I'm just making little episodic doodle comics based on it. Much like Broken (working title), the comic I've been occasionally working on featuring my Native American drug lord/abuser arms trader character Russell "Red" Parker, which was intended to be part of a series of video games bearing the same title.
So yeah, hopefully I'll be able to remake this digitally, and I'll more than likely have more stuff up in the future, especially if I like, lose my job or drop out of college or something.
