Ahhh, yes, here we are! This is a character I've wanted to get for a long, long time now. ^^ Meet Jaivyn, a Shagaru Magala from the Monster Hunter series! Shagaru has always been my favourite monster ever since I started in 4U, and even after the thousands of hours since then he's remained my favourite. :3
A bit about Jaivyn, still very much a WIP:
Having ascended from his old form as a Gore Magala for many years now, Jaivyn is experienced and hardened from many fights. Despite being of a species considered by some to be a mortal god, this Shagaru is deeply spiritual, following the concept of Light as an invisible force of justice and good that guides his hands - and shots. Yes, Jaivyn is rather skilled user of the Light Bowgun, heavily favouring status - focusing on crippling opponents and helping allies. He's very nearly just as good with elemental, as well, his elementally-infused shots finding just the right spots, guided by a prayer and Jaivyn's steady eye.
He does, however, retain the same skill with melee weapons that he developed during his youth as a Gore Magala, even if he no longer prefers it. Adept with Charge Blade and Lance, the Jaivyn of that time preferred a very offensive defence, with each movement meant to harm, and often guard as well.
Jaivyn''s personality is somewhat quiet, but he always speaks with conviction and strength of mind on the occasions he does talk to others. His chest is full of the fire of rightousness, and he adheres to his own morals and view on life - few have been the times something has put those into doubt, and he has not yet fallen. It is possible to get him to talk more, and even joke and jest around others - inside his somewhat knightly and borderline crusaderlike mannerisms is a being that values tales of glory, a drink shared amongst trusted companions, and a protective mindset that at its core builds all of his belief around guarding those he cares for. Nothing causes him to break his calm, noble attitude than a threat to his own - and there's no better way to drive him to a crisis of beliefs against desires than his reaction to the ones that cause this...
Phew! That's just the first pass, for now. ^^ Hopefully I'll develop him more over time! I want him to show up often from here on out, that's for sure. :3

Personally my favorite LBG is the Nakarkos...infact pretty much all of Nakarkos stuff, safe for the HBG and Bow, is my favorite. Even the armor which is why I made all of his weapons and both armor sets. Everyone has that one monster they enjoy fighting with yours being Shagaru Magala I can tell.
I will say the marks on his chest and his wing designs are pretty nice in general and the addition of the God's Island for this reference is cool too.

If dragon shots were viable for a full hunt id use the Nakarkos more, but I status and element gun. ^^ I use the Nakarkos Astral switch axe and gunlance, with the skeletal charge blade. :3 My favourite hunt is avtually Alatreon though, I always go after him alone when I have little to do. ^^ It's like a dance when I go after him with Switch Axe. Shagaru just has my favourite design and theme, though the hunt is pretty up there too~
I'm a pierce person as I use Adept style so Nakarkos LBG is my favorite gunner wise. Plus most monsters weak to dragon are pretty much very easy to spam pierce on.
Nakakros LBG ( Good clips for Pierce and 2 slots ), Nakarkos Lance ( Long blue for spamming the charge ), Nakarkos Gunlance ( Long blue for spam ), Nakarkos Hunting Horn for the songs and how it makes Dreadking easy mode, Nakarkos Insect Glaive due to how it works well with a set I have, and both Charge Blade and Switch Axe as I like those two.
My favorite hunts are Amatsu ( Hence why I made the armor ) and Nakarkos ( Its an easy fight ) with certain others being my least favorite. Though thats because I do tactics like using Cats for everything

Amatsu is really fun and I adore his weapons - I just wish I liked his armor skills more Q.Q

I can handle slow sharpening. I usually eat for Felyne Polisher or I use weapons with extremely long sharpness and doesn't require constant sharpening...that or something with a slot to get rid of Slow Sharpening since the armor has no slots. Even more I have a Blunt +6, 3 slot so I can take advantage of long green sharpness and such. Evasion +2 is great and makes it possible to do stuff like Evade Lancing or Guild/Striker style like adept and a better option in terms of defense unlike Silverwind. Latent Power +2 gives you 50% affinity and reduced Stamina Use which makes weapons alot more fun to use with already high affinity.
So honestly Amatsu armor isn't bad honestly, it just depends on the weapon and talisman you plan to use as you're quite restricted in terms of skills. Though most weapons works amazing with Evasion +2 like Switch Axe or Lance. Though in general I prefer Nakarkos in terms of skill since it does have the same defense as Amatsu and the skills are less affected on you. Spectre's Whim is only bad when you plan on doing gathering quests and you can use a slot to get rid of it. Plus Trump Card and Composed work together very well and will help with Hunter Art heavy weapons.

Latent Power +2 isn't my thing, specifically. Just doesn't stay up enough. I'm fine with the rest, I mean, I was an evade Lancer in 4u so I love me some Evasion. ^^ I just would rather have something with more slots or different skills instead of latent power, so I do run Silverwind, since I'm happy with 500 or so defense. I'm used to squish 300-defense gunner sets. X3 I am fond of Astral armour as a general use high slot armour though! Alongside Ukanlos and EX Shagaru. Alatreon for element~

Frankly if it has high defense I'll take it. Hence why Amatsu and Shagaru are my picks. They're very nice and help out quite alot. I don't blame you for not liking Latent Power +2 as it is certainly my thing as who doesn't love a free Weakness Exploit when the monster is close to death, though it only kicks in for a short while and only when the monster is close to death or you suffer 2 health bars worth of damage. Though it does work well with something like Akantor HH or even the Seregios SA for 100% affinity if you use Energy Charge 3.

Deadeye is the way to go for Challenger +2 and Repeat Offender so don't forget to look towards them. Silverwind and Deadeye have my most favorite deviant armor sets in the game since I can either be a glass canon with tons of crit damage and turn the Akantor SA into an Elder Dragon killer. Or Deadeye and get rewarded for attacking non-stop and having trouble keeping it up with Negate Stun and Guts.
