Were Exchange: Esh-Baht for Vampire_Writer!
The technical stuff: I got to draw Esh-Baht for Vampire_Writer for this month's round of Were Exchange on Livejournal. I tried a new shading/highlighting technique, and am very pleased with the results.
The OMGWTF AWESOMENESS: I can do it. O.O I know that sounds strange, but...highlight/shadow have been my biggest banes for years. They haunt me, taunt me, hate me, and make me miserable. NO MORE. I finally got bold and it WORKED. I've never been so pleased with experimental technique before. I can only hope I don't slide backwards and lose my courage...suddenly, all my previous digital art feels flat and lifeless. Hmmm.
Anyways, had a TONNE of fun with this...and as you can tell the theme was All Hallows Eve. >:3 Look look, Esh-Baht is carving a Jack-o'-Lantern! Or getting ready to eat someone's face...heh...black cats, pumpkins, I feel warm and fuzzy. XD Esh-Baht is of course © Vampire_Writer, no stealie.

Bloody hell!
... was the first thing I thought on seeing this, and the second thing was:
Bloody hell, that's good!
... and the third thing was: bloody hell, that's good because of the lighting! And the green eyes and teeth and sheer radiant malice, of course. I /like/ it!
If you won't make me roll over for offering critique: I think you could have thrown still more contrast at it. The direction and tenor of the highlights suggests featureless, inky darkness in deeply-shadowed places like the crook of (her?) hind leg.
