Another weapon that was influenced by Gears of War. The Torque bow was so nice (in my opinion) so i felt i should draw up an idea that may or maynot be used in my mech story when i get around to starting on it.
The bow can fire beam bolts or metal bolts, the damage in which either type of ammunition was used would be crippling to the enemy mech. Many different kinds of bolts can be fired: Beam, emp, Grenade (explosive) arrow, and normal arrows.
Unlike the torque bow on Gears this bow can't magically become 3 times smaller before/after use. It would be a primary or secondary weapon depending on how leathal the user is with it or the battefield in question. The storing of the bow when not in use will pretty much be storing it in one of the racks on the mechs back or shouldering it. The bow 'string' is comprised of several dozens high tension wires that have been braided together and hooked to each end of the bow.
I had fun drawing this up, it was something different from my usual swords and gun designs i'd been working on for my mech weapon series. Comments and critique are welcome.

I wouldn't think someone would hit the string unless they were intentionally aiming for it. But IF the string was hit by a bullet the bow would become useless and no harm would come of the pilot or his mech that was using it... unless they're out of weapons. Then they'd be up shit creek.
I have to say, I did not see this one coming, the alternate arrow types sound intriguing and I guess I can understand with a little thought how impaling your enemy with a large metal shaft might be helpful, making even the conventional arrows of use, I do wonder how the beam arrow would work though...
