You could say this radio found me Tuesday evening. Got home from work and there was a message on the answering machine from a friend that mentioned a person had come into his shop wanting to sell an old radio. Imagine my surprise when I got to the guy's house and saw this thing! It's an odd-ball and seems to be very rare as there is virtually no information about it. It uses a modified model 28 table radio that is plugged into a big, three tube amplifier and power supply that uses two 81's and a 10 for an output. Sadly, all the tubes are gone because the original owner's kids tossed them out. They were just going to chop and shabby chic this radio before their neighbor talked them out of it and bought the radio a year ago. Also, the leather surround on the Magnavox speaker is totally disintegrated and there is just enough crumbly rubber wire to rule out borrowing tubes from my other radios and doing any power-up tests right now.
Edit: I was able to safely do some tests under power and it seems the transformer is fine after doing that test and I could get a bit of a hum and some static through the speaker under reduced power. Might be hope yet! Seems this might be the only complete example of a 29 out there right now.
