Terah: "Rrrr! I don't get this nonsense about 'technique'."
Gavros: "It's all about moving with the staff. Directing power where it needs to go, and using your momentum. Like this - you can't just beat down-"
Terah: "And *WHY* can't I? My *fists* could probably kill whatever it is faster, and no one would need any healing."
My Charr characters practicing new staff weapon techniques. I'm pretty sure that Terah's dummy was decapitated in a flash of sparking leystone moments later, before she stormed off. (Leaving the staff behind of course)
Gavros is a natural with the staff due to his acrobatics and agility training. Terah would rather just hit things. Really hard. Repeatedly.
