I loved the original Spyro trillogy, the new series doesn't compare.

Yea I really do agree that the legacy series ruined Spyro. I hate to admit this, but I might go see the movie thats coming out for it that is based off the Legacy trilogy.

IDK about the movie except that I think Universal is trying to make money off a franchise that should've been shelved after Insomniac moved on to Ratchet & Clank. *Nods*

In response to above comments, I prefered the "Legend of Spyro" series. More realistic. Then again, the only original series game I played was "Enter the Dragonfly," which people thought sucked. But I like Cynder. She's kinda hot. Uh...in a dragon kind of way(and mine). hehe.

Rundown of the series:


Spyro 1-3: can be lumped together. Very, very good games, among the best platformers on their console.
Spyro 4 (Enter the Dragonfly): plays a lot like Spyro 3, but with terrible load times, common glitches and multiple breath weapons. If you liked this one, you almost certainly will like the first three.
Spyro 5 (Hero's Tail): Pretty good. Better than 4 in my opinion, partly because it's much more... well, finished. One of the fun things is that it's completely hilarious! It mocks almost every video game tradition.
Handheld games: Season flame is the most faithful to the original series, and in my mind the best. The handheld game quality varies wildly.

Legend of Spyro games: Generally pretty good. The Eternal Night is the only real letdown, thanks to being drastically harder than either other game. Dawn of the Dragon is fantastic for the free flight alone.

Suppose what I'm saying is, the PS 1 games are considered the best of the classics - I'd hate for you to miss out on them or otherwise dismiss the classic games.

I'm not dismissing them. I'm just saying that I preferred the Legend series. That's all.

You said the only original series game you'd played was EtD. Which, in my opinion, is among the worst representatives of the classics. I'm not saying you're wrong, the bit I have a sort-of problem with is the "only played Enter the Dragonfly" bit. I'd be perfectly fine if you'd played all Spyro games and preferred the Legend Of series.
I'm not trying to be pushy. Just saying that there are some very good games in the classics that apparently you haven't played - and, since I like people to enjoy things, it'd be nice for you if you played them.

Yeah. I know. I would play the others if I could, though.
