Mr Owle Reference Sheet
Oh dear god. I finished this like a week and a half ago and forgot to post it here. This is the full all-the-info reference for Mr Owle, my main personal character. So prepare yourself for a wall of text.
BASIC:
Name: Atticus Owle (Mr Owle)
Gender: Fluid, masculine leaning. He/him. Lacks any urogenital system.
Sexuality: Gray-ace?? See “NSFW” for more I guess. Panromantic.
Height: fluid but usually quite tall and consistently over 5’5”
Weight: null
Wingspan: correlates directly with height.
Species: Worldwalker, imperfect
Natural weapons: Legs held together can be used as a piercing weapon. Bite force on-level with that of a human, though with additional puncturing ability due to dental structure. Claws capable of inflicting small lacerations. Wings can be used for bludgeoning.
Abilities: Can willingly travel between universes. Can levitate slowly up to twice his height from the ground, and is capable of true flight for moving faster or higher than that. Does not require oxygen to survive, and only requires occasional food, water, and sleep. Is capable of significant shape-shifting, though reverts back to his true form under significant physical or emotional distress. Can pass through many solid objects and can “teleport,” sort of, in shadows.
Inabilities: Is fairly wobbly on uneven or very solid terrain, and trips easily when on the ground. Lacks any significant eldritch properties, which is very atypical of worldwalkers. When world-walking, he has no way to protect his inner self and is highly susceptible to collateral damage, influence from outside sources, or even possession. Additionally, he is limited in traveling to material or mortal planes, and if destroyed in one plane may take years to be able to reappear there. He can only appear in one place at a time, cannot effect the psyches of those around him, and his morphology is strictly euclidian.
Biology: Most of his body is made of a dark, blue-green, semisolid flesh with layers that somewhat resemble salmon meat. This flesh stretches under low stress but tears under high stress; egg white-like blood of nearly the same color oozes from it. He has no vascular system and only a vestigial digestive system; he absorbs what nutrients and water he can from food and drink and simply regurgitates a pellet of what’s left over. His blood flows between layers of his flesh rather than in veins or arteries. He also has no true bones; he has a simple, white, cartilaginous spinal column and some very basic stiff cartilage structures in his legs, arms, wings and face. Mr Owle’s skin is a much more earthly material, and though it’s about as thick as human skin it consists only of one distinct layer. Pores are invisible to the naked eye, and the surface of his skin is uniformly smooth, matte black. Feathers on his wings are distributed in a way somewhere between a raptor and a songbird; feathers are pretty standard, consisting of one shaft and many barbs. His outer face plate is a shiny keratinous structure, with no skin beneath it. The skin inside his mouth is very thin, allowing the color of his flesh to be visible; his “gums” are actually the same skin as the rest of his body, and his teeth are keratinous. Unlike his face plate, Mr Owle’s teeth require occasional filing. The keratinous teeth, feet, and face plate are all about twice as hard as human bone, but can be broken.
Demeanor: When truly himself, undamaged and without outside influence, Mr Owle is collected and sly, and just a little bit sadistic. Nothing drastic (with exceptions listed in NSFW), but mostly just a prankster and is more interested in making others slightly (albeit constantly) agitated than causing genuine pain. He presents in a very prim and proper way, priding himself in poetic language. Mr Owle is humanly intelligent and fairly well-read, preferring to read over any other way of passing time. When injured by his world-walking, however, much of his genuine personality drains away and he becomes exponentially more sadistic, to the point that others may interpret him as a machiavellian sort of evil. The degree to which this occurs, and his healing time from walking injuries like this, correlates in a very human manner to its severity. A “scrape” may only take a couple of days to completely clear up, but traumatic injuries can take months or years to heal, and injuries can be recurrent if he is forced from a plane of existence while in this state. After recovering, he often has very little recollection of his misdoings, but is still very aware that he’s done awful things; just not entirely sure what, and evidence evades him if given time to heal. He masks his guilt with self-depreciating humor, and takes any misfortunes he experiences as something he deserves.
A} Front and rear view of his basic proportions. Think of him as one of those gourmet lollipops with a split stick. His arms can protrude anywhere from his mane, or be hidden entirely. Often he’ll hide them when not in use. The distance between his wing wrist and the tips of his primary feathers is about the same as the height of the rest of his body, and his inner wing width is about half that. Because of a stretchy piece of skin connecting his wing’s shoulder to his wing’s wrist, he can about halve his apparent wingspan.
B} A view with his mane missing, skin from where his feathers grow outlined in green. His neck is much longer than it would appear otherwise, and connects to the wing’s shoulders rather than the arm’s. The arms have four points of articulation: a traditional ball-and-socket shoulder, a second ball-and-socket joint, the hinging elbow, and plane/ellipsoid wrist. The joint between his shoulder and elbow is highly flexible and falls around where, mane left on, one would expect the arm’s shoulder to be. He keeps his head in this position at most times, and even when looking over his shoulders moves his neck very little. He is capable of stretching his neck fully upright, though this looks very weird and he really only does it before regurgitating a pellet.
C} Rear view with wings and tail removed, their attachment points colored green. The saddle between the wing shoulders is cartilage and skin, and acts sort of like a clavicle. His tail does not have any “bone” structures, and instead is controlled with muscular action. His spine instead continues down to his pelvis.
D} A feather from his mane. All of the feathers in his mane are identical and squared-off like this. It’s worth noting that he does not go through molts, and instead sheds occasional feathers as new ones grow in. This is true for his wings as well.
E} Facial proportions. Under normal lighting and to the naked human eye, the seam of his full mouth is nearly invisible; consider it optional if his mouth is totally closed. He normally only talks with the horizontal potion of his mouth. Parts his mane would cover are outlined in green. Mr Owle has no external ears; the auditory meatus is covered by his mane during all natural movements, and is only visible if he deliberately pulls his mane back. His eyes are nearly perfect black, and rarely reflect any light at all. He has thin eyelids of his normal skin texture and color, though does not need to blink and usually only closes his eyes to convey emotion or sleep. His eyeballs are perfect spheres which project slightly from his face.
F} Full wingspan. With his wings fully outstretched, the piece of skin connecting his wrists and shoulders is mostly hidden. Secondary feathers are only visible on the ventral sides of his wings. The flesh of his arm is outlined in green. Primary feathers can be spread a little further with muscular action, to seem more slotted than contiguous. This is generally for display or landing, as it impedes normal flight.
G} Mouth fully open, with tongue retracted and exposed, respectively. The connections between his teeth and gums are surprisingly flexible, allowing him to tuck his upper canines into his mouth when closed. He sometimes forgets to do this and might have lil teefies. He lacks premolars, and has only four molars on each side. Though he usually cuts food with a fork and knife, when left without utensils he rips food and swallows pieces whole. Mr Owle’s tongue is almost entirely retractable, the first view being as close to “gone” as it can be. The tongue sheath is somewhat stretchy but immobile, and largely fused to the floor of his mouth. When retracted, his tongue is hidden inside his neck; when fully extended, it is mostly cylindrical (with a cone-like tip) and about 1.5x as long as his head is tall. The tongue is made of the same flesh as the rest of his innards, though notably more solid, and his saliva seems to be a slightly runnier version of his blood.
H} Arm, hands, hips, knee, and foot. Mr Owle’s limbs have no indication of muscle tone; they are near perfectly cylindrical. As shown in the elbow, wrist, hip and knee, there are indications of “bone” and ligaments, however the rest of the limb shows no variations in topography.
To start; the arm here is amputated at the second point of articulation, showing the flesh pattern within and the nearby skin pulled away. His hands can either be highly simplified human hands, with cylindrical fingers and conical tips, or anisodactyl bird talons which are morphologically somewhere between those of a raptor and a perching bird. The thumb, in this case, can swivel fully from the back of the hand to the side.
The pelvis is box-shaped, contradictory to his cylindrical torso. Up very close, a ventral divot, mimicking the center of a rectus abdominus, is visible but barely casts a shadow. He has very wide-set legs and thin thighs in comparison to his pelvis, giving him a thigh gap a little less than twice the thickness of his legs. The back view has even fewer topographical features than this, with no readily visible glutes, let alone a gluteal cleft.
His knee shows, like his arms, the indication of structure and ligaments that are otherwise invisible in the rest of the limb. The legs generally taper, though his thighs and lower legs are similar in width until about halfway down the calf, where his legs taper more significantly and the flesh beneath his skin becomes more and more keratinized. They terminate with no feet or indication of tarsals, instead simply being a very hard needle-like point. This, in addition to his wide-set legs, are the main cause of his very slow (or else ungraceful, even clumsy) movement on land. They serve better as a natural piercing weapon. The tips of his feet are about as pointy as his canines. A slice is taken from the side of his lower leg here to show the change in flesh towards the foot.
If you managed to read all that....congratulations?? Or I'm sorry, I guess. lmao. I love writing lore and I go a little crazy esp. with my world walker babies.
