I've had excellent luck with Shinies in Ultra Moon. All three of mine took less than a 25 chain in SOS (and the Spinda was the ultimate: Not just a Random Encounter, but a FIRST ENCOUNTER RANDOM ENCOUNTER [meaning the very first Spinda I encountered in Ultra Moon was Shiny!].) The other two were Zubat (now a Crobat) and Bagon (in the process of becoming a Salamence).
I think the best shiny encounter my bro and I have had was a shiny psyduck that he didn't want because he didn't like psyduck, so he ran. Then the next encounter he has was
